@Rex Regum MP is correct as well. It started life as the MkB(Machine carbine), then got changed to MP(machine pistol) because Hitler wanted the project shut down and the more focus on SMGs and finally STG after the project was officially approved again.

mp-44 is nothing, the weapon pictured is a Sturmgewehr 44 you just messed up as Maschinenpistole means machine pistol or smg. And it is shortened StG-44
