Location, location, location...

Choosing a running mate with a good location is crucial, as moving him/her is a waste of stamina. DON'T CHOOSE ONE FROM WHERE YOU ARE FROM UNLESS ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY. Getting a Rubio/Bush team might sound cute, but it's counterproductive.

If you're behind in Virginia, grab Jim Webb. If you're lacking in The northeast, Romney is a good choice. In the cover photo for this guide, I chose Romney and got MA, ME, and NH, so, as you can see, you need to choose a location that helps patch the holes in your strategy.
Characteristics
Here's the thing-character is big. There WILL BE PEOPLE WHO TELL YOU OTHERWISE. They're wrong. States have a certain percentage of minorities. Some are high, some are low. Choose Carson or H. Clinton if your minority appeal is low. Choose Trump or Bloomberg if your minority appeal is the only thing carrying you through the election.

But it's not only what the states are like. There's YOU too. If you have Trump, you need to grab Fiorina or Palin or Rice. If you have Bill Clinton, pick Elizabeth Warren or Jill Stein.

In the picture, I had gentle, religious Cruz, so I picked his polar opposite, Trump.
Conclusion
This was a short guide, so I'll wrap it up with a short conclusion. Judging by minority appeal, placement of character, religious appeal, and overall conduct, here are your powerhouse veeps:

Democrats: Barack Obama (Il)
Republicans: Ben Carson (MD)

And yes, I gave you a picture of a Sanders victory to appease your appetite.
DLC Choices (thanks to yahyaisi3a)
