Introduction
Author's note: I've been seeing a lot of discussion threads by new players asking how to get good items in-game, or which RTC weapons are worth buying. For lack of a better tutorial and absence of a similar guide, I have taken it upon myself to provide a primer on what to expect in Eternal Crusade concerning the in-game currencies you are given.

Welcome to Eternal Crusade! You have been thrust into conflict for control of Arkhona, the fifth planet in the Kharon system, at the edge of Imperial space. You can fight for four factions: the noble Space Marines, the ruthless Chaos Space Marines, the wise Eldar, or the resilient Orks. However, boltguns don't grow on trees, and you know what that means:

Space economy!

That's right, you have to acquire a service or good via exchange of recognized tender. In this game, there are three forms of currency:
  • Requisition Points: An analogue of experience points, you can trade in Requisition for faction-specific, stat-affecting weaponry and weapon modifications.
  • Advancement Points: These are earned through combat as a means of acquiring faction-specific, stat-affecting gear and Loadout Point (LP) discounts on certain weapons. They can also be used to unlock Elites later on.
  • Rogue Trader Credits, or "RTC": This can be spent to acquire cosmetics and Master-Crafted reskins of certain weapons. (Note: Master-Crafted weapons can also be acquired through Requisition. More on that later!)
But how should you spend this veritable menagerie of money? I'm no build expert, but I can help you get your feet off the ground! Read on to learn how to spend these currencies!
Requisition
The most plentiful resource in the game, Requisition is best used to acquire Supply Drops.

"But headache, what are supply drops?"

Glad you asked! Supply drops contain a random weapon or weapon modification from their tier. Each tier has a set list of items it can drop, and once those items are exhausted, that tier of supply drop can no longer be bought. You can't get duplicate drops, either!

To get Supply drops, go to the "Store" button in your menu.

This should be what you see:

Then, simply go to "Supply Drops" and spend your hard-earned Requisition!

If you're curious as to what you'll get, check out this handy dandy drop table[forum.eternalcrusade.com] for the contents of each tier!

You can also purchase weapons with Requisition through the Loadout screen. This is one specific common-grade weapon, and it does not come with any mods. These will usually run you between 10K-16K Requisition, but seeing that you can get an alternate skin or Master-Crafted version through boxes, I wouldn't recommend this route unless you want that certain weapon or it cannot be acquired through any other means. The sole example I can think of that cannot drop from supply drops but can be purchased through the Loadout screen is the Stalker Bolter for the Loyalist Space Marines.

And that's Requisition! You'll be getting the bulk of your dakka from here. But what about the things keeping you from being disintegrated by a bolter?
Advancement
That, among other things, is Advancement's job! If it's not a gun and you can carry it into battle, there's probably another choice available somewhere on the Advancement table. It's earned alongside Requisition, though in much smaller quantities,

This one's fairly straightforward. Go to the "Advancement" option on the character menu and then you'll be greeted by this heap of skills and frills:

Keep a few things in mind with Advancements:
  • Unless skills are changed in point value or effect by the devs, there is no Advancement refunding. Make your purchases count!
  • Figure out your favorite class or classes and focus them, while taking auxiliary purchases (like all-class armors) that don't break the bank.
  • Each faction has a special focus. Orkz seems to be general toughness and Gobs (giant metal jaws bolted into their sizable bone jaw), Chaos has the Marks of the Chaos Gods (Tzeentch, Slaanesh, Nurgle, and Khorne), Eldar have mobility with low recoil, and Space Marines have Halos and well-armored specialists (e.g.: Apothecaries and Jump Assaults). Capitalize on these when picking items!
  • Skimming the contents of the Advancement table can give you ideas on where to focus points. Even if the current tier's item is meh, the gear later on in that tree may be worth the investment!

So you've got your dakka, you're 'ard as nails... but where's your flash bits?
RTC
Cosmetics and readily-available Master-Crafted gear are the domain of the Rogue Trader Credits. This currency can only be earned through purchases, campaigns, and giveaways. There's not much to say here: the "Appearance" tab of a loadout has a slew of a la carte items to choose from, and the Store has bundles of cosmetics for a ready-to-roll new look.

Keep in mind that which subfaction you choose for your character can affect what cosmetics are available to them: a Chaos Word Bearer cannot wear an Iron Warrior's shoulders, and vice versa, despite being from the same larger faction.

A word on RTC weapons: These are Master-Crafted variants of existing weapons that have a premium skin, with only two exceptions: Abaddon's Grace (CSM Havoc) has a heat proc (slated for a further nerf) and the Sternguard Bolter (LSM Tactical/Apothecary) has a larger magazine (apparently this magazine size has been readjusted to be a standard drum magazine capacity). All Master-Crafted versions cost at least 100 LP more, including these weapons. Master-Crafted weapons can also be acquired through Requisition-earned Supply Drops at random. It's a "pay-to-skip" system far more than it is "pay-to-win" at this time.

Addendum, as of the Chaos campaign update: The Ork Skarboy Kommando can now be purchased with 25K RTC. It can be assumed that the other new elite units will follow this pattern unless Behavior figures out that it's silly. You may want to save for that.
Conclusion
Congratulations! You now know about how to get new equipment in Eternal Crusade! I hope this has been helpful. Feel free to leave a comment and let me know how I can do better!

A reminder you can get FREE RTC during events, have 1 character in each faction and play the matches until you fill all the bars and voila, free premium currency.

Theres one happening RIGHT now, so have 1 Ork, eldar, SM and CSM to reap all rewards

@The Captain: Honestly, it is kind of a preference thing. If a weapon is what you're really looking for, it's worth unlocking directly, but I've always built my loadouts around whatever I unboxed. Makes for more flavor, in my opinion.

@BloodyLucky: Really? I suppose that's changed since I wrote this. I'll amend that.

Correction on the sternguard bolter, it is just a fancy master crafted bolter with a drum mag attachment and a 4x scope, which you can replicate with the following; it even matches up with LP cost.

You should add that people should unlock only the lowest costing 2 box's first then buy all the regular items from the wargear store under 10k first, because the 12k box unlocks 16k req items ect. if you know what im sayin

Space Marine Princess Dress-Up needs are your only needs.
Prostrate yourself to the fashion gods, and they shall take you in as one of their own.

(Thank you! :2016villain:)

Hey! This is a really good guide. I'm really new to the game, and appreciate the hard work people put in to help out the community! I got twenty thousand RTC, and I have no idea what to do with it rather than just aesthetic, but now I know just to kinda...let them sit there, and serve no purpose other than my Space Marine Princess Dress-Up needs!

okay jokes aside, good guide, ten oudda ten.

That is true! You can technically have everything from :shammer: to :mkb: to :rockt: unlocked:, but be prepared to grind beyond rank 5 in a faction.
