About this guide
Just trying to help out people. Maybe I'm stating the obvious but I just wanted to make a simple guide with some tips and tricks. If you like to help expand this guide than feel free to comment or add me.
Quick Tips
Guard your vault
Raiders will occasionally try to attack your vault. If you wanna be prepared make sure to place people in the "Vault Door". Give them a good outift and weapon to make sure they're strong.











Pregnant women
  • Don't give them Weapons. They run off as soon as there is any danger.
  • Pregnant women are invincible! The worst thing that will happen in a room full of pregnant women is that it gets burned or infested for a short time.

Outfits/Gear
  • Dead dwellers in your vault still have their gear. If you dismiss them, you collect their gear in storage, even if you don't have enough room!


Rooms and People
  • Cut back on rooms, upgrade the ones you got.
  • The more rooms you make the more power you need.
  • Assign the best people for the job. This also helps with their happines.
  • Only expand when you can handle it.
  • Find time to get people laid. Getting laid also helps people become happier.
  • Make sure everyone is healthy, once you have enough resources people will heal themselves.
  • Keep the people with the highest stats healthiest
  • When you drag people over the room it will show you a number. Go with the one that shows the highest one.
Tips and Tricks
  • A dead dweller in the wasteland still counts towards your total population and doesn't use water or food. You can use this to unlock the next room a little quicker without ending up with a huge amount of people in your vault.
  • Don't be afraid to sell off outfits though when much later in the game. As you obtain stronger Outfits and Weapons from Lunchboxes and the Wasteland, you can begin to sell off weaker Outfits for CAPS. Be mindful of this however, early in the game it is NOT A GOOD IDEA to sell off your Outfits for CAPS.
  • Sell any gun that has 0 or 1 damage. It's not worth keeping as you do the same or more damage with the fist. You will also obtain better weapons over time.
  • Be sure to put pregnant women and their mate back to work in a room once they are done consumating. They don't need to hang out in the Living Quarters.

one sugestion, Pregnant women still keep their outfit stats.I didnt know this originally so I took their oufits off and gave them to others

Unfortunatly, I found this guide only AFTER my vault started going donwhill, so now it's pretty much doomed, but I don't wanna part with it. Please help!

Good guide. Basically most important rule is don't over expand anything past your resources to fuel that particular item or it drives down overall happiness = less productive people overall. That can be applied to population vs. food & water; rooms / expansions vs. power;, preggos vs. living quarters, etc.

@ Gavener: you CAN use same breeders to make a pop...BUT game won't let you inbreed. So more you use same folks, slower pops will grow as overall they're all related but same 2. That's point of giving you parents names so that you can avoid wasting time with leaving relatives in room to try to breed.
