Hello.

You're probably here for a few things. You might be here because:

• You're new to ETS2/ATS modding.
  
• You found a guide.
  
• You saw "INTRODUCTION" but you weren't expecting to see its joke

However you came here, I'm surprised people care about my content!

This is my first Steam Guide. Prepare to count my mistakes. Oh, wait. There are none. I think.

This will show you how to slam mods onto your game, possibly ruining it.

This is NOT a tutorial on how to MAKE mods. Go elsewhere for that.

Be sure to get mods from sites like http://ets2.lt/en/, AKA trusted sites. And be sure to have an antivirus that can scan your downloads.

You will need:

• Euro Truck Simulator 2 (Or, if you're doing ATS, American Truck Simulator)
  
• The newest version of the game (Most mods don't work on older versions)
  
• A RAR/ZIP folder extractor, like WinRAR, 7Zip, etc. (Required to extract SCS files from ZIP/RAR mod files!)
  
• A Steam account (Though then again, how would you be viewing this if you DIDN'T have Steam?)
  
• A good, trusted antivirus program (just in case)
  
• Enough file space for mods (Hey, just covering ground here)
  
• Know-how of your computer and your "This PC", "C:", and "Euro Truck Simulator 2" folders (When I say "'Euro Truck Simulator 2' folder", I mean the one in "My Documents", not "Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common".

Don't screw this up, or you might end up breaking your game. Not kidding. Knowing society, someone here's gonna end up deleting base.scs (The file that makes the game, well, the game).



Without further ado, let's get to it!

Steam has really tuned into what fans love the most: mods. People even say that mods save games from becoming play-once-forget-later games. So, Steam made the Steam Workshop, which are mods, minus the pain and suffering of regular modding!

Also, now there's almost no cool ones. Don't say I didn't warn you. Because I didn't.

But if you're new, and you want to add that Skoda Superb AKA the most overrated SCS game mod since TruckersMP (WHICH IS WHAT MADE THE MOD POPULAR) in the screenshot above, among others, sure damn thing.

Here's how you screw around on Workshop and do something productive. Okay? Okay.





This takes a lot of skill. Move your mouse over to Community in the overhead tab thing whatever on Steam, BUT DON'T CLICK IT! Hover your mouse over it. Click on Workshop. Now look for Euro Truck Simulator 2. Click on that.

You're in. Look around, and don't install workshop mods without looking in the description beforehand; they might require non-workshop mods! (Actually, let's call non-workshop mods "external mods".)



Let's say I wanted this for some reason.














I would do the hard task of moving my mouse to the "Subscribe" button, and do what so many over-rated YouTubers ask us to do each millisecond; SMASH THAT like SUBSCRIBE BUTTON!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay, sorry. CLICK subscribe. I'm not gonna get you to smash your PC screen, or at least not TODAY.















Run (AKA play) ETS2. If it loaded in correctly, you should see "(New MODs)" in a glaring yellow text next to "Mod Manager". Click it.

Now we're looking at mods that aren't on the Steam Workshop. Things like the Renault Master in the image here, and its blue rotary lights. Here's how. This takes longer, but it's 99% of the time worth it.



Download the mod. Like how I'm doing here.















Once it's installed, open File Explorer and enter your Downloads folder. Here's why I asked for you to install WinRAR/7Zip.

Right-click the folder, and that memorable bar we all know when you right-click a file.
















If you have WinRAR, you'll get WinRAR-marked tabs like "Extract files...", "Extract Here", etc.

If you have 7Zip, you'll get an openable tab which has almost the same tabs as WinRAR.

Use WinRAR/7Zip to extract the mod's file. It becomes a folder.
















Open the file, and you'll see that this exists. Right click it. This time, copy it.

REMINDER: ONLY COPY THE SCS FILE. IF THERE ARE MORE THAN ONE, HOVER YOUR MOUSE OVER THEM, AND COPY THE LARGEST ONE.








Now we go to "My Documents". Click on the "Euro Truck Simulator 2" folder.













Now, you see this. Click on the "mod" folder.








Now, just paste the copied SCS file for your mod into the folder. Now it's installed!



Run (AKA play) ETS2. If it loaded in correctly, you should see "(New MODs)" in a glaring yellow text next to "Mod Manager". Click it.

After setting up your mods, they won't turn on by themselves. You gotta do the obvious. You have to set them up, and enable them. Here's how.



Run ETS2. Now click on "Mod Manager".













Now, note how these mods don't have the green light. See the arrows?

The buttons with two arrows pointing means you can turn ALL your mods ON or OFF. But we aren't using this.

We're using the buttons with ONE arrow.

Click on the mod you want to be enabled.

Click the button which points to the stack of activated mods.











And there we go. Your mod's enabled.











Now just do this with all your mods, and you're done! Your mods are enabled.
