Speed Runner and Quick Collector TIps

Those pesky speed run achievments. We all secretly hate them (I know its not just me). So, here are some tips I would have liked to know before doing these achievments.

The Achievments and the Times to get them

Speed Runner: Saved the day as fast as possible

The time to get Speed Runner is less then 3 hours



Quick Collector:: Achieve 100% completion as fast as possible

The time to get Quick Collectior is less then 3.5 Hours
I know this due to a poorly timed bathroom break and an interuption where I forgot to save/pause. But hey, it helped me figure out what the max time was
Somethings to Mention Before Starting
-Make sure you have beaten the game before and have access to Hero Mode. It makes these achievments much easier.
-Press Start(On Controllers. Not sure what the keyboard key is)to Skip Text and Cut Scenes. You sould've already played the story, so you can skip all that. This works on all but the final one

-You can get both achievments in a single run. Ive seen them as fast as 2 and a half hours.
The tips for getting them
For Both Achievments
  • Do this is Hero Mode. I cannot stress this enough. It makes things easier as you start with 5 of the dances. Monkey, Elephant, Crab, Harpy, and Mouse
  • Skip the Cut Scenes. You've seen them already. It can save you some time by skiping them.
  • Use the Harpy to move through areas. You can avoid enemy's, get items, and move quicker as you avoid obsicles.
  • While Fighting Risky and the TinkerBrain before the Genie Realm, use the Scimitar. While expensive, it can deal constant damage to Risky, helping kill her before she can get to her second anchor attack phase, and allows for the "Run Past" method for attacking TinkerBrain.

  • The Invinsible is overpowered while fighting TinkerBrain in his final form in the Genie Realm. Especially when you have the Magic Taira.
  • The GemJug Method for farming Gems is not as effective as the TassleTown 1 Method. Where you use the Harpy to smash all the large pots on the Upper platforms. In an Optimal run of the TasselTown Method, can get 999 Gems in around 8 minutes or less in real time when you average 175 Gems per run at 1.25min per run + 5 Seconds for returing to the world select and flying back down.
  • Who's gonna know that you cheesed the Slide stages but us? Just Cheese then unless you know you can do them without falling. Except the one in mermaid falls. That one is too easy to be worthy of Cheesing.


For Speed Runner
  • Dont worry about all items. Just get maybe 4-6 hearth holders, all hair upgrades, and you are set. Anything mentioned above in the Both Achievments is optional if you are only trying for this one
  • If you need money, Use the TassleTown 1 Method for the same resons as stated above


For Quick Collector
  • This is kinda up for debate, but I personally suggust getting as many relics and key items in a stage before leaving it. With exceptions to the SunkenSouls and the BlobFish Kids and getting these "When Convenient".
  • Grab the Waterfall Relic While in MainStreet for the first time. It really is helpfull and grabbing it then can help avoid backtracking later on.
  • Never Forget about using the keys to open gallery doors, and them talking to the Mayor for the Magic Taira. It is forgotton about more then you think.

If you don't mind playing dirty, there's a bug involving Town Square that you can use to get all the gems you need without ever having to worry about your time. If you save via the man at the far left of town and reload, your progress will still be there, but your time will reset to when you first entered the town. Note that the art gallery for some reason disrupts this bug, not sure why, but you can use this to use the gem jug method without adding a single minute to your overall timer.

This can speed up the process: Using the Obliterate dance during the Tinkerbrain fight instantly destroys all the coils thingies, which can make the fight less than a minute.

The items I left out as someone already posted an items guide
And I personally haven't used obliterate and didn't think it worked on Tinkerbrain. I'll add it though

ow and btw mermaid dance isnt availabe at the start, you have to get it from chest

just couple notes if you dont mind:
1) getting waterfall relic(stage 1-2) and then harpy talon (stage 2-1) turns second boss fight into nothing, esp 2nd phase - feathers in the face and she is out
2) scimtar is fun for tinkerbrain but dont we have obliterate? all 5 in 1 hit

about the pausing im not sure, so i would recommend saving and the exiting to main menu
if you have neither and 100% under 3 hours, yes you get both
