Shortcut Keys to Remember
由 xyzt 制作
Project Dogwaffle is really cool, yet hides a lot of "why does it do that?" inside the shortcut keys. So, I've tried to organize the shortcut keys in a pattern that makes it easier to see what on earth is going on.

Shortcut keys
I'm lost - Zoom to 100% (F3), Zoom to fit window(F4)

Primary/Secondary choice - CAPS key (I would have never thought of this key being used for anything. In Project Dogwaffle, you need it.)

brush size - +, -

deselect - ctrl + d

menus - i, o, p, h, k <-- p does NOT open fill settings, it opens Gradient sweep editor

Opacity - F6, F7, F8 (F8 is 25% percent opacity)

Shortcut keys - Painting Modes
How do you want to paint with your brush? Simply press a number above the letters, wait a moment, then brush away. If your brush tool isn't selected, simply press d to select the brush tool.

Painting Modes
1 normal
2 additive
3 subtractive
4 multiply
5 divide
6 screen
7 around grey
8 rubthrough
9 panto
0 smear
F1 custom brush is normal
F2 shape of custom brush decided by painting mode selected

Remember CAPS lock key changes between Primary and Secondary color choices.

Also, the 0 smear painting mode combines with the F6, F7, F8 opacity selection, making an F8 25% opacity and 0 smear create a subtle smear, while an F6 100% opacity and 0 smear create a "what did I do?" smear.

Buffer shortcut keys - Be Buff by learning your Buffers
Buffers are important in Project Dogwaffle... for us users, the buffers are places where images are stored and used which are not necessarily visible... so we say there is a swap Buffer, an alpha Buffer, an FX buffer*, a custom brush Buffer, and an image copy buffer. A buffer by itself makes perfect sense, but a buffer is a bit more like a folder in your hand because you can take paper from one folder and put it into another folder. swap to alpha, alpha to swap, or maybe brush to alpha? Well, you get the point.

swap Buffer - j, J, K (this buffer is the only buffer that WILL save content that is in the buffer if and only if you use the lyr save option.)

alpha Buffer - \ , | , ; , S, W, ---- ctrl+drag & ctrl+arrow keys(Don't touch!! these move the alpha layer) -----

custom brush Buffer - x, y, z, ", F1, F2, Alt+c, Alt+v

store image copy Buffer - upper left button to click... don't know what the keyboard shortcut is... this is used all the time...

* The FX buffer does some cool things, but I don't know if there is any way to use it like the other buffers
FX Buffer - ^, &, *, ( , ) <-- super cool fun shortcuts/try them with basic brushes to see what they do

Fills - Rectangle and Oval tool
There are three great ways to make a selection and fill. The Pen tool, which is called the Curve tool in Project Dogwaffle. I haven't found a shortcut for the Pen tool in Project Dogwaffle. The v shortcut key activates the Linear tool which is inferior to the Curve tool. The Rectangle fill tool and Ellipse fill tool are the other two great ways to make a selection and fill it in without switching to another tool.

R - make a rectangular selection and fill it in with the current fill settings
C - make an ellipse selection and fill it in with the current fill settings

From my practice, R and C perform exactly as I expect them to every time I use them. The fill options are custom brush(which can be created on the fly with b by the way), a Pattern selected of the many available in the Patterns library, a solid color, or a Gradient(usually chosen from the Gradients library). Patterns and Gradients can be warped in the fill settings in various ways. Modes(known as Paint modes to Project Dogwaffle, known Blend modes to other software users) are available in the fill settings also. That is, you need to select the mode from the fill settings for a fill, not rely on the mode selected for the brush.

r - make a rectangular selection(theoretically this is outline only, but my experience has been a little different)
c - make an ellipse selection( "" )
Buffers - PD's three
PD has several buffers, but the ones that have the most options, are the Store Brush Buffer(Custom Brush) and the Swap Image Buffer(Swap). The major three tools seem to be these three.

1. Canvas
2. Swap
3. Custom Brush (store your art through custom brush, then save as png for the alpha inclusion)

But honestly, I think people use store image more than swap.
