What is Crate Crafter?

Crate Crafter is a clean mod alternative to other stacking mods. It does not alter any core game files but instead creates storage crates from in game resources that can be destroyed to get the resources back, used as decorative items or unpacked autimatically in some special crafting stations included in the mod!

What is included?

there are 4 variations of the in game storage boxes. each of them have been altered to create crates automatically when the resources are dropped into them. You can use the storage boxes exclusively or just for packing crates if you prefer to use another storage solution.

The modified versions (with exception of the CC Small storage box) all require the in game version as the crafting component. The engrams unlock at the same level as the in game versions and do not cost any engram points to learn. All storage boxes can be picked up and moved.

Small storage box (same as in game with Crate Crafting capabilities)

large wood storage box (Same as in game but with crate crafting capabilities)

Small vault - a smaller version of the in game vault that is about the size of the small wod storage box and has 200 slots with crate crafting capabilities

Large vault - A 500 slot vault that is bigger than the small vault but still much smaller than the in game vault. Also has the crate crafting capability

CC Mortar and pestle, CC forge, CC industrial grinder, CC Chemistry Bench, CC Industrial forge all can open crates if the item is used for crafting in the station. also packs crates if the output item is not used in any other recipie within that structure. the industrial grinder also creates fiber from thatch and each of these crafting stations have a larger capacity than the in game models of the same type.


What can I crate?

Crated in lots of 600

Charcoal, chitin, clay, crystal, electronics, fiber, flint, gas, angler gel, gunpowder, hide, ingots, metal, narcotics, obidian, oil, cementing paste, pearls, Pelt, Polymer, Rare Flower, Rare Mushroom, Raw Salt, sand, sap, sparkpowder, stimulant, stone, sulfur, thatch, wood.

Fertilizer is crated in lots of 20

Why can't I crate berries and meats, etc?

Crate crafter can be used with my extreme kitchen mod which cans berries, kibbles and now has capabilitites to open some crates in the canning bench. The CC Mortar and pestle can also auto open things like cans of stimberry, narcoberry, cactus sap, from the extreme kitchen mod.

Do I need both mods installed?

Only if you want the features of both. They will both work independently of each other.

Why are the lot sizes 600?

Several of the in game core bluprints have a preset quantity of 15 when made. In order to return the in game items, we had to decide on a quantity for each crate based on a multiple of 15 in order to keep the mod clean and not use any copies of the original resource blueprints, Crate crafter always calls the original core blueprints when opening crates to ensure that when your resources are returned, they will be just like the original.

Other notes

Crates are lighter than their components used to make them so that you will be able to carry more. A CC storage bos on a quetz or a boat will allow you to bring back far more resouces during a harvesting run. You might even want to carry one around in your inventory and place it at the site where you plan to harvest!

Crates are stackable in your inventory in various stack sizes

Crates can be picked back up when placed or destroyed to get the original components back
