If you only own Spore base game + Creepy & Cute Parts Pack and/or dont want to install Galactic Adventures then you can install this upgrade without any problmes, but if you want to play with everyting then you MUST install spore game + all expasions you want to use and then, install this upgrade.

Download them anywere you want.

Just copy the 2 file you downloaded in the following folders:

Data (base game)
DataEP1 (galactic adventures)

If you dont install galactic adventures you wont have the DataEP1 folder.

After this just launch the game and you will find an extra tab with the robot parts.
