1) Скачиваем файл "PhysXLoader.dll" из сети.

2) Копируем файл в папку с установленной игрой:
..\Steam\steamapps\common\Need For Speed Shift 2
Пробуем запустить игру. Если ничего не вышло, копируем этот же файл

• для 32-битных систем - в папку ..\Windows\System32
  
• для 64-битных систем - в папку ..\Windows\SysWOW64

Снова пробуем запустить игру.
Данный способ помог мне наконец-то запустить игру на 64-битной Windows 10 (правда, я изначально скопировал данный файл во все указанные директории).

ЭКСПЕРИМЕНТАЛЬНЫЙ ВАРИАНТ РЕШЕНИЯ ПРОБЛЕМЫ С ВЫЛЕТОМ ПРИ ЗАГРУЗКЕ ПЕРВОЙ ГОНКИ

• Удаляем PhysX, отличный от версии 9.10.0513.
  
• Устанавливаем именно 9.10.0513, перезагружаемся.
  
• Небольшое отступление - перед выполнением действия из пункта ниже я устанавливал две игры (Shadow Warrior (2013) и Viscera Cleanup Detail: Shadow Warrior), с которыми шел следующий софт:
  - VC 2008 Redist
  - DirectX Jun 2010 Redist
  - VC 2012 Redist
  - .NET 4.5.1 Redist (или .NET Framework 4.5.1 RC Setup)
  - dotNetFx40 (4.0.30319.1)
  - UE3Redist (1.0.10886.0)
  
• Удаляем файл "PhysXLoader.dll" из каталога с игрой (не из директорий Windows).
  
• Запускаем игру в режиме совместимости с Windows 7.

2) Copy this file in directory with installed game:
..\Steam\steamapps\common\Need For Speed Shift 2
Try to run the game. If it didn`t work, then copy the file

• for 32-bit system - in directory ..\Windows\System32
  
• for 64-bit system - in directory ..\Windows\SysWOW64

Try to run the game again.
This solution finally helped me to run the game on 64-bit Windows 10 (honestly, i copied that file in all mentioned directories before the first attemp to run).

Experimental solution for the problem with crashing during first race loading

• Remove all installed PhysX other than version 9.10.0513.
  
• Install only 9.10.0513 version, reboot.
  
• Small note - before the action listed below, I have installed two games (Shadow Warrior (2013) and Viscera Cleanup Detail: Shadow Warrior), which have the following software:
