Equal it is always a landcreature walkin around on the surface if it takes longer then 3 landings to find it. Equal deduced that ther last one is a hard pesky creature.
And OFC one have to be adaptable and use the available information to "know" where the last one/2 are.
But every single time this works if one have deduced away the fishes and birds during the initial procces (Personally I always go for the possible fishes and if ther is any birds they will begin show next/over the water.
Just add a few landings next to a area with caves or similar, and it is super easy to deduce/force the last one to be a land creature on the surface.
Also doesn't really matter if it's a landing pad or not.. It could be any station.
Just to preface, I've scanned over 30 planets, I'd say this works at best 50% of the time.
