I did not make any changes to Lana's stock, but Lana presumably sells the fire resistance augment used to make this.

Negate. It should prevent you from taking damage from lava entirely.
In the same way that the poison resist augment prevents you from taking poison damage.

Does this negate or simply reduce the damage from lava?

It should let you swim in the planet core, but there is still an instant killzone at the bottom of the lava, and it is hard to recover your items if you die there.
