You can do the ballistic weave quest without becoming enemies with the Brotherhood (or any other faction for that matter), so you can get the ballistic weave and then side with the Brotherhood for the end game.

Just how far can I go with the Railroad and still get those uniques. The DiA cache quest(1st one) is required to unlock ballistic weave for clothing.
