For players that aren't EDF series veterans, nothing mentions this capability, but it's pretty important for the Fencer class. You can dash around very quickly with any shield + close combat weapon. It also works with the Javelin weapon and certain other artillery weapons I'm told, but I'm not sure about an authoritative list of which ones - check the comments maybe a more experienced Fencer than I will add one.

Just dash (weapon use key) and right as the dash is ending, activate your shield's deflector (weapon use key).

You can repeat this dash-deflect-dash-deflect... over and over again to quickly cover ground, but be aware that eventually your shield will have to recharge.
