There is a trick though. If one of your bots dies, quickly close the game with X before the enemy finishes their turn. Then start the same Profile. This will reset to the start of your turn and you can try again to get your bots in a better/safer position.
Also if you miss a shot in your turn you really need to hit, just press Escape and Quit to Title. When you resume, your turn is reset and you can try again.
This is how i quite easily did it.
One more tipp: You can also make your own "backup" profile saves by copying the "savegame_00x.dat" in your documents/MyGames/SteamWorldHeist folder
The final level, watch out for the bomb bot at the top and the droids coming out of the droid generator (2). Once those are out, focus on the big bad in the middle (make sure you don't hit his front shield). Be aware just keep moving (as in you just need to make sure that you are not going to get blasted by the lasers that fire every other turn, so you should be fine if you move to the right spot).
Also, I recommend a fully loaded Sally because you will have the ability to shoot the shield globes, with the Mad Dog ability, just make sure Sally is in a good spot for those instances.
This seems so unachievable as I need to reset the whole save state after one of my chars dies at a mission?!
So if you want to beat the game on elite , don't change the difficulty even once or you will not get the achievement.
