How To Reset Configuration File
由 Guano Happens 制作
A guide to walk you through how to delete (to reset) your settings file so you can make sure you are on default settings.

The configuration settings for Darkest Hour are actually separated into 2 files DarkestHour.ini and DarkestHourUser.ini

DarkestHour.ini holds graphic, rendering, and other settings.

DarkestHourUser.ini holds controls, input, some hud options, and your player name.

When either is deleted the game will generate a new (default) one when launched.

Delete The Configuration File
First make sure Darkest Hour is not running. If you have to, restart steam or computer.

Linux and Mac users have separate locations for the configuration file. You will need to find it separately from how Window users do.
Mac: ~/Users/~/Library/Application Support/Red Orchestra/DarkestHour/system
Linux: ?

For Windows users open steam, find Darkest Hour: Europe 44'-45' in the library. Then right click it and select properties.

Go to the tab that says "Local Files" and select "Browse Local Files"

It'll open a new explorer window, looking at the Red Orchestra directory. Find the folder labeled "DarkestHour" and double click it.

Find the folder labeled "System" and double click it.

Now find a file called "DarkestHour.ini" and delete it.

If you do not have view file extensions enabled, I highly recommend you enable this. I find it disgusting that it doesn't default to enabled and people at Microsoft should be ashamed to have even allowed it to exist.

To enable files extensions:
https://www.thewindowsclub.com/show-file-extensions-in-windows

If you cannot find the file, then make sure it isn't there by searching for it!

Whenever the game is run for the first time or whenever the DarkestHour.ini file doesn't exist, it will generate it. It generates it by taking default settings from the default.ini file, you should never change the default.ini file. If you cannot find DarkestHour.ini, then you do not need this guide for now.

One more thing, when the game generates the DarkestHour.ini file it DOES use the RedOrchestra.ini file to start with. So if the RedOrchestra.ini is corrupt or has variables that somehow corrupt DH, then the newly generated DarkestHour.ini file will be corrupt as well. The RedOrchestra.ini can be found in the RedOrchestra/System folder (likely different place for linux/mac users). Just delete it and also the DarkestHour.ini to ensure both games are defaulted.

Do you have a Users directory? go into that, then into your user, then Application Support, and so on.
