For people who can't make it work on Windows 8 or 10, this is a solution not just for f1 2011, but DiRT 3 and other Games for Windows Live games as well.


NOTE: YOU MUST MUST MUST DO THESE STEPS EXACTLY. DON’T SKIP ON REBOOTING OR ANYTHING. ALSO MAKE SURE TO DOWNLOAD THE FILE I’VE LINKED TO, AND NOT ANY OTHER VERSION OF GFWL.

1\ uninstall both “Microsoft Games for Windows - LIVE Redistributable” AND “Microsoft Games for Windows Marketplace”

2\ reboot

3\ download the GFWL installer from here: http://download.microsoft.com/download/D/0/F/D0F9F1BD-9BE6-49E4-8729-4AAAFCAC20F9/gfwlivesetup.exe

4\ IMPORTANT: Right click the above installer, go to properties and change its compatibility to “Windows 7”. Save and exit.

5\ IMPORTANT: Right click the installer, and choose “Run as administrator”

6\ After it’s installed, run the GFWL game again. It should now work fine and redownload your profile.

Steps 4 and 5 are really, REALLY, REALLY important.

After it's done, it asked me for an update. You CAN update the GFWL, it should work fine.

Ez a leírás segítség lehet azoknak is akik más GFWL játékokkal is hasonló problémákba ütköztek:
1\ Távolítsd el a Microsoft Games for Windows - LIVE Redistributable ÉS Microsoft Games for Windows Marketplace programokat a vezérlőpultból.


2\ indítsd újra a számítógépet

3\ Töltsd le a GFWL telepítőt innen:
http://download.microsoft.com/download/D/0/F/D0F9F1BD-9BE6-49E4-8729-4AAAFCAC20F9/gfwlivesetup.exe

4\ FONTOS Jobb klikk a telepítőre, majd a kompatibilitás fülön állítsd a kompatibilitást Windows 7-re. Mentés és kilépés.

5\ FONTOS: Jobb klikk a telepítőre és futtatás Rendszegazdaként.

6\ Miután ez kész, futtasd újra a játékot. Ezután megfelelően kell működnie, valamint újra letölti a profilodat.


A 4-es és az 5-ös lépés NAGYON FONTOS!

Miután ez megtörtént a játékon belül a Live nekem frissíteni akarta magát. Engedni kell, különben kiléptet. A frissítést nyugodtan engedélyezhetitek neki.

Personal Experience
You should do this things before Steam auto installs it because after that it was bad for me too. If you do this first, it should work.

UPDATE
It should work with f1 2010 as well and with every Games for Windows Live game.

Uninstal installed GFWL on Windows 10 and install GFWL for Link

when i click on the link it says "404 - File or directory not found.

Works perfectly. Signing in with Games for Microsoft Live takes some time so be patient.

does not work, cannot install GFWL under 7 Compat mode..

Ok get into game find marketplace in MY F1 ingame login using account details, it takes a bit .Then go onto Steam right click on F1 2011/manage/cdkeys as you will have to enter this on GFWL and boom it works
