In most games, there are difficulty settings. This one has some, too, but they're pretty in-depth, and outside the purvue of this guide.

So what am I going to tell you how to do, to change your difficulty settings?

I'm going to tell you to change the map size.

It's fairly simple. When you start a new game, you get an option to choose your map. You can pick your random seed, and you can pick the actual size of the map.

If you're playing the game for the first time, you want a very small map. This allows you a couple things.

• You can capture all traffic on your map quickly and easily. This is important because passengers, when spawned, want to go places, and if you can't take them there, you never see them.
  
• This forces industry chains to be in easy reach of each other. Unlike in most transport games, goods produced by a factory only go to their customer. There is no changing who supplies who in the game as companies choose suppliers and customers when spawned.

Play the game a few times on these small maps until you feel you have a good grasp on what's going on, then try for a bigger map. But be careful! Unlike other transport games, where bigger maps mean bigger money and easier gameplay, in this game, the bigger the map, the longer the supply chains, the more diverse your passenger destinations, and the greater investment required for any given revenue stream!

After a few play throughs like this, you'll eventually realize what map size is your favorite, and you'll be able to stick to that in all future play throughs.
