Guide to Permanent Death challenges for the Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth series
由 DiaborMagics 制作
This guide will walk players through soms steps to make the game more challenging. It will cover options and scenarios I came up with to play the Re;birth series in Perma-Death style. The 12 scenarios range from 'Extremely Easy' to 'Destruction of Gameindustri', but are merely examples.

Note: I am only using this for the first time myself and I have only just started with Re;birth 2, so things may change in the future.

Perma-Death Options
Options
The options below will help you tailor your experience. After the ‘options’ list, there will be a list of pre-determined scenarios you can choose from.

If you’ve failed to revive a party member by the end of the battle, what will happen?
- I will lose that one character and continue with those I have left
- I will have to start over, because this character is dead and so the story cannot continue
- I will revive this character; I only get in trouble when game over

What happens when you get a game over?
- I lose every fainted character and continue with those I have left
- I lose everyone in my current party and continue with unused characters I have left
- I lose the game and start over from scratch

When you lose a character, or multiple characters at once, will you use a trump card?
- I started using Weaken Enemies as soon as I got it. To get 1 (or more) character(s) back, I will turn off this plan and keep it turned off.
- I currently play on normal difficulty. To get 1 (or more) character(s) back, I will turn on ‘Fortify Enemies’ and keep it on.
- I will turn down the difficulty and try again

Can you heal your characters during battle?
- Yes
- No
- Only with items
- Only with magic

Can you revive your characters during battle?
- Yes
- No
- Only with items
- Only with magic

Can you use EXP Up plans/discs?
- Yes
- No
- Only Plans (note: the DLC Super Exp. Up plan in Re;birth 2 is completely broken and will make the game extremely easy, even if ‘Fortify Enemies is used’)
- Only Discs

When starting over, will you skip the start?
- Yes, I will make an extra save when I finish the first dungeon, so I won’t have to keep repeating the intro to the game when I start over
- No
If you’ve got the DLC installed, what do you do with the starting items you obtain?
- I keep it
- I sell it
- I sell it all, buy stuff from that money, then sell that, until I have no money and items left

If you’ve got the DLC installed, will you use the DLC characters (Re;birth 1 only)?
- Yes
- No
- Yes, but I will equip the weakest possible gear and take away combo blocks
- Only as backup

If you’ve got the DLC installed, will you use the bonus weapons?
- Yes
- No
- I will pick one
- Once the weapon doesn’t seem to be Over-Powered any longer
Perma-Death Scenarios
Scenarios
Extremely Easy: I can use whatever I want and I will only have to start over when the ‘Game Over’ screen has popped up an X amount of times (once, twice, three times, etc.)

Very Easy: I can use whatever I want, but once I fail to revive a character during battle twice, that character is lost. I will then continue until I lose all my characters.

Easy: I am forbidden to use Exp. Up. Discs and plans, but otherwise it’s the same as ‘Very Easy’

Normal: I will not use DLC (I also make sure I don’t have any items or money at the start), nor Exp. Up discs/plans. When I failed to revive a character by the end of battle, even once, that character is lost and I will continue with those I have left. When I get a game over, all those whom fainted are lost and I will continue without them. If I can still make the enemies stronger by turning on ‘Fortify Enemies’, I can do so to regain everyone I’ve lost once. I am not allowed to use ‘Weaken Enemies’, ever.

Normal Plus: I will not use DLC (I also make sure I don’t have any items or money at the start), nor Exp. Up discs/plans. When I failed to revive a character by the end of battle, even once, that character is lost and I will continue with those I have left. When I get a game over, all those whom fainted are lost and I will continue without them. If I can still make the enemies stronger by turning on ‘Fortify Enemies’, I can do so to regain only 1 character I’ve lost once. Not several characters, not all of them. I am not allowed to use ‘Weaken Enemies’, ever.
(Note from author: I’m actually doing this for the first time now and I use the ‘Normal Plus’ scenario myself; skipping the first dungeon when I start over).

Above Average: I will not use DLC (I also make sure I don’t have any items or money at the start), nor Exp. Up discs/plans. When I failed to revive a character by the end of battle, even once, that character is lost and I will continue with those I have left. When I get a game over, I will have to start over no matter what. If I can still make the enemies stronger by turning on ‘Fortify Enemies’, I can do so to regain only 1 character I’ve lost once. Not several characters, not all of them. I am not allowed to use ‘Weaken Enemies’, ever.

Difficult: I will not use DLC (I also make sure I don’t have any items or money at the start), nor Exp. Up discs/plans. When I failed to revive a character by the end of battle, even once, that character is lost and I will continue with those I have left. When I get a game over, I have to start over no matter what. I am not allowed to use ‘Weaken Enemies’, ever.

Hard: I will not use DLC (I also make sure I don’t have any items or money at the start), nor Exp. Up discs/plans. When I failed to revive a character by the end of battle, even once, that character is lost and I will continue with those I have left. When I get a game over, I have to start over no matter what. I am forced to play with ‘Fortify Enemies’ from the moment it becomes available.

Hard Plus: I will not use DLC (I also make sure I don’t have any items or money at the start), nor Exp. Up discs/plans. When I failed to revive a character by the end of battle, even once, that character is lost and I will continue with those I have left. When I get a game over, I have to start over no matter what. I am forced to play with ‘Fortify Enemies’ from the moment it becomes available. Also, I will not be able to revive my characters with items.

Very Hard: I will not use DLC (I also make sure I don’t have any items or money at the start), nor Exp. Up discs/plans. When I failed to revive a character by the end of battle, even once, that character is lost and I will continue with those I have left. When I get a game over, I have to start over no matter what. I am forced to play with ‘Fortify Enemies’ from the moment it becomes available. Also, I will not be able to heal or revive my characters with items.

Extremely Hard: I will not use DLC (I also make sure I don’t have any items or money at the start), nor Exp. Up discs/plans. When I failed to revive a character by the end of battle, even once, that character is lost and I will continue with those I have left. When I get a game over, I have to start over no matter what. I am forced to play with ‘Fortify Enemies’ from the moment it becomes available. Also, I will not be able to heal my character with items. I am never allowed to revive them, not matter what.

Destruction of Gameindustri: I will not use DLC (I also make sure I don’t have any items or money at the start), nor Exp. Up discs/plans. When a character faints, I cannot revive her. The story cannot continue properly because of this either, so I lose and have to start over no matter what. I am forced to play with ‘Fortify Enemies’ from the moment it becomes available. Also, I will not be able to heal my character with items.
