have you ever wanted to play gta 5 singleplayer with a ton of crazy mods, but also want to play online, un-modded? well i'm gonna show you how you can switch from an un-modded game folder to a modded game folder. its pretty easy.

NOTICE

this does require you to have two copy's of gta 5 installed which will take up about 130gb of space. that's why i'm not gonna do this, i'm gonna switch the hard way (just dragging and dropping mods out)

right, so you're going to want two different gta 5 folders. so what you do is, you rename your gta 5 folder. for example: i just renamed it from Grand Theft Auto V to `Grand Theft Auto V. this bit is the easiest

then, once you've renamed your gta 5 folder, steam will re-install the whole game, creating a new folder called 'Grand Theft Auto V'. this is it re-installing it because as far as it knows, you have uninstalled 'Grand Theft Auto V'

you should have two folders named differently now:

right, this is the best part. so you want to go and get yourself some mods to put into one of the folders. if you don't want any mods then i don't know why you are on this guide anyway! this part is completely up to you! just follow the instructions properly and don't go making your pc blow up. mod safely kids! i recommend the real life mod by Konijima:

right, this might get a bit confusing but here it goes:

steam will open the folder named 'Grand Theft Auto V' with all the capitals and with a 'V' not a '5'.

so when you want to play with your un-modded game, you must name the un-modded folder to 'Grand Theft Auto V'. change the modded folder to something else.

now when you want to play your modded game, then you must name the modded folder to 'Grand Theft Auto V' and the un-modded folder to something else.

once you know what to do, it's pretty easy. just make sure you have the folder you want named to the right thing. and try not to get banned from online (unless your hacking then please get banned).

Your "guide" doesn't explain to everyone, that launching the game from either folder will still trigger the R* launcher, which will STILL update the game, and ruin your mods. What you explained here, anyone can figure out.

Unless R* stops updating so often, and only does it once or twice a year, then you're probably not going to enjoy the results of that.

Now if you thought of, and provided, a solution to make one of the folders completely bypass the R* launcher, THEN you have a real guide .

My idea is simple...

Use your Steam installed copy for online use only. Then download a "repack" version for modding purposes. (Usually found on safe torrent sites, and are mostly up-to-date.) The repack version will already have the ability to play GTA5 without the launcher.

So easy. Brain-power is fun for everyone! Something that's obviously missing here.

You can actually do this a lot more simpler.. Just download OpenIV and make a mods folder, all you gotta do to play online without mods is just remove the mods folder. Takes up way less storage and is much simpler than both of the methods mentioned in this post. (FYI OpenIV does require a few other things to work, such as ScriptHookV and ASI loader, which can both be installed inside the openiv app.) However you will still need to copy all of you x64 and common folders into the mods folder in order to use it

you need only remove scripthook from gta folder. then you can play online without extra unmoddet gta folder
