I got this game already knowing that it requires some tweaking before running, so I was already prepared to read the forums. I found all the necessary tweaks to run the game on a 64 bit Windows 10 with an Xbox360 controller. Of course if you prefer this version to the 1995 version. So here it is.

Playing the Special edition with a joystick is a must. If you don't have a joystick at hand, you can use an Xbox360 controller with the game. First you download the file. The file has a readme in it with the instructions. The ingame configuring is a bit tricky (first you press the button on the controller, then you pick the function you want, then press the next button. It's a weird system, but you can get used to it pretty fast). Then of course don't forget to run the script file each time you start the game.

Solution 1 worked for me just fine. You have to download an archive and extract 2 files, and edit the launch options in Steam.
