when I type "playvideo testvideo"...
This is what the console echos when a bg video is played with the command:
BinkOpen( d:\steamlibrary\steamapps\common\left 4 dead 2\left4dead2\media\l4d2_background01.bik )
This is what it echos when I play a custom video from a vpk:
BinkOpen( d:\steamlibrary\steamapps\common\left 4 dead 2\left4dead2\media/testvideo.bik )
do you see it? It changes the \ to a / ON ITS OWN. WHY ON EARTH? HOW? There's no way for me to change that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ slash!!! THAT'S IN THE GAMES CODE FOR CONSOLE COMMANDS SOMEWHERE. I AM POWERLESS TO STOP IT. I m good I actually love the source engine, this is good i actually love the sourcengin im okay I actuall y love the source engine thank you gabe yay im fine yay
When added manually these files work just fine. Typing "playvideo testvideo" will play them normally, but after trying to add them through a vpk (as bg mods do normally) the game wont play them.
Does anyone know why the files aren't recognised? Why only when they are added via vpk AND not replacing a background video?
Any leads appreciated.
Also, in the bink compressor settings make sure file format is bink 1.
Then, under data rate settings, tick "Compress to a %".
Set the value in the box to 100.
Under Keep peak data rate, tick multiple and set it to 3.0.
The box for "frames to preview during bandwitdth allocation" is 8.
Tick "Use alpha plane unchanged from input file"
Do nothing for all but one box in Input video settings.
Under "Smooth % 0 (nine) to 100 (max)", set the box value to 0.
Tick "Compress audio"
Set the Compress level value to 4
Tick "16-bit/stereo"

Hope this helps, cheers lads.
