lol 8 years later, I should re-visit this guide and update it one day. I definitely don't use SyncToy anymore, SyncThing is the best!
I just think about allllll the random games we play. Like Vektor Wars, very few people own it, but it's going to be a year old soon and not supported. Doesn't matter how old a game is, someone else out there needs to manually submit the database update entries for them all and you basically become a slave to those database updates. It's a cool program though, they really are trying hard.
They don't even have a Rise of the Tomb Raider entry yet. I'm not saying your house is going to get struck by a meteor this week, but if it did, you wouldn't lose any of that 3D platforming progress :)
But SyncToy+DropBox is the ultimate form of Sync managing and I definitely keep your method from now on.
The very first thing I did was update the database the latest version and check the game compatibility list. 3769 games supported, and there are over 7200 games on Steam and a LOT of games are not on Steam, if we think about how old PC gaming is, there are far more than 10,000 games.
So then I started to think about some games I might want backed up. The very first thing I checked was Sébastien Loeb Rally EVO which came out 2 weeks ago. Not supported. Next I checked a few indie titles and I couldn't find any of them. A game like Locked-in syndrome, sure it's just a random indie game, but it's 1.5 months old and not supported. I bet you only 1% of indie games that come out on Steam would ever be supported.
Anyway, thanks for sharing the tip, SyncToy is from now on in my essentials.
