Chain used versus sails to slow a ship. Ball is standard shot used against hull. Purpose is to damage and sink a ship. Double shot is 2 rounds shot loaded in each cannon for added damage to hull. Reduced range. Cannister is a big shotgun round with little to no penetration. May penetrate the stern at close range. Kills crew. Normal battle range is rather close as seen in the video. Long range chain didn't do much. Had to close the range to inflict damage.
