In this guide, I will assume that you know what steam level is and that you know the basics of Trading cards and Badge crafting. I want you to keep in mind that you can't get trading cards by not spending a penny but I will show you the cheapest way to earn XP.

Please keep in mind that this is my first time writing a guide on Steam. I would love to get some constructive feedback.

What I like to do is just send all my cards every now and then that I get from random booster packs which allows me to craft a badge almost weekly. You can also set the desired level and instantly buy your desired level and receive all the cards in just a few seconds.

If you haven't already completed the "Community Leader badge" I highly recommend you to complete it. You get 500 XP if you complete 28 of the 29 tasks. It's free and it won't take too long to complete it, at the same time you get to explore the Steam community.



This one is really simple, all you gotta do is to Convert a Steam community item into gems, this badge will give you 100 XP. You will get backgrounds emoticons etc when you craft. If you don't want to craft you can simply buy a background/emoticon on the steam market for 0.03€ to get 100XP.



Also, if you participate in some of the special steam events that happen every now and then you get some XP, like summer sale or the winter sales. Then you have "Year's of service badge" which gives you 50XP each year you been on steam. Even your games on steam will give you XP, more games you have, more XP you get.

The cheapest way to get XP is going over to various "game bundle" websites and buying the cheapest possibly bundles with a lot of games with trading cards. I strongly recommend "Indiegala"[www.indiegala.com] since they have cheap bundles with many games and you can see what games have trading cards available. I know there are A LOT more bundle websites but I prefer to use Indiegala.










The best method of actually getting the cards will require you to download a program called "Idlemaster". Basically, what Idlemaster is an open source program that will give you the trading cards without playing the game. You don't even to download the games that you will idle.

The way that Idlemaster work is that it simulate you being in-game in whatever game it chooses. This is fully automatic and as soon as you get all the drops from a
certain game it will automatically go to the next one.

Cards won't drop immediately you start the program, to actually being able to get the drop you need 2+ hours on a game. You can set up Idlemaster to idle all your games that need to get to the 2-hour mark by the same time. But running more than one game at the time after the 2-hour mark will just decrease your chance of getting drops. You can play other games while letting this program run but the chances of you getting any cards will decrease, the best thing you could do is leaving this program on while you aren't doing anything, like leave it on the night or when you're away.


The bad part about this is that you have a limited drop on each game, no game can actually give you a full badge. The way I go around this is by heading over to "http://www.steamcardexchange.net/" and trading away my cards for credits. I usually trade in the cards that are most expensive or those with duplicates so I get away as cheap as possible.


There have been reports about people getting VAC-banned while using Idlemaster when playing games that are protected by Valve Anti-Cheat System. Please don't use Idlemaster when you are playing any games with VAC. I believe people just blame Idlemaster because of their VAC-ban and that the people who blame Idlemaster actually did cheat.

I can't tell you which badge who is the cheapest one as the prices changing constant all the time. But you can head over to SteamCardExchange and check out the Badge Pricelist [www.steamcardexchange.net] On the pricelist you can see what badge are the cheapest to craft right now. But I would recommend you to craft the badges you already have some cards on since it will be a lot cheaper, hopefully.

After you crafted a badge you will get Backgrounds/Emoticons and what you should do with these is to either sell them or make them into gems. I usually make gems out of these if they aren't worth much. With these gems, I buy booster pack and if you are lucky you can get foil cards and do some profit $

Most of you probably already know about this but I want you all to know that you can make some extra money by buying booster packs. Booster packs will give you three completely random cards, they can be normal cards the foil versions of the cards(the more expensive and rare cards).

Let's say that the booster pack costs 0.10€ but every card costs around 0.05-0.07€ You made a little bit of profit. The bad part about this is that you can get duplicates, but then we head over to SteamCardExchange and trade them, or whatever trade forum you would like to use.

Q: Is Idlemaster safe to use?
A: Yes, it's an open source program which means that anyone who wants to look through the code can do it. It won't steal your information, only your public information like how many games you have and how many cards you can still get.

Q: Is Idlemaster bannable?
A: I don't think so, I believe people blaming Idlemaster even tho they cheated. To be on the safe side of this, don't use Idlemaster when you are playing any VAC-secured games.

Q: Can I craft badges for games I don't own?
A: Yes.
