I will highlight the commands that you can type like this: cat

In the beginning I will try to explain some basics:

The three most important commands are: ls, cat and help.
Use help to see all the commands that are currently available.
With ls you'll see all the files on the computer and with cat you can read them.

So if you are not sure what to do then try help at first and then look which files are on the PC with ls.

If you want to work a bit faster then you don't need to type all the file names. Example:
If there is a file called birthday.jpg you only need to type b and then press TAB and it will write the rest for you.

If you cannot solve this "challenge" on your own you probably shouldn't be playing this game at all.

To solve this first "challenge" you simply have to type in the command password and it will display the password. Then you type login and enter the password which was displayed by the previous command.

The next challenge is not much harder.

With ls you'll see that there is a file called password.txt.
Simply type cat password.txt and in the text there is a sentence that says: My password is allomoto.

Now type login and enter allomoto.

This time you'll need to run a command as administrator.

If you try to execute the command cat password you'll see that this is not working:
"You must be administrator to read that file."
To execute a command as administrator simply put sudo in front of the command:


If you tried the command help you'd see the command sudo there too.

Now to solve this challenge all you have to do is type login and enter the password which was written in the file.

In this challenge you'll have to enter your birth date.

If you open the file birthday.jpg you'll see that we are currently 30 years old.
The next file which is of interest is aevans.mail.
In it Adams mentions that today is Bruce's birthday.
All you gotta do now is look at the date of the mail, subtract 64 by 30 and viola we have the birthdate of Bruce 03/18/34.

Now we have to connect to a Computer on Level 02.
If you run cat level1.jpg then a new window will open and you'll se 4 PCs (including the one you are currently on) - one of them is on Level 02 but we don't know his name yet.

We can use ssh pcname to connect to another PC.

We cannot connect to timgurtons PC because we need a password, but we can connect to adamsevans PC (ssh adamsevans).

Here in attach.mail you'll find Tim Gurton's password sexykate.

After connecting to timgurton open data.part01.
Here we can see the hostname and the password for the PC on Level 02.

Now we can go back to brucedayton and open data.part02.
Replace every 4 by 0 and now we have the password: half0099way.

After I described the previous sections in detail I think by now you now how this works so I won't be that detailed now. Just remember cat, ls and help. Those are the most important commands.

Passwort to Access CCM_02 can be found in ccm02.man
Now acces the CCM_02: ssh ccm_02

switch power database (so that the Database has power and is running)
switch security (so that CCM_02 does not prevent us from connecting to Database)
switch link

Use exit to get back to your pc and connect to Database.
Open db_file.
Password for richardmills: 1littleduck

Connect to CCM_02, switch power (switch power richardmills) and connect to richardmills.

Here you can't do much with the files, if you use help you'll see that we have a camera.

On the Blackboard you can see Numbers and Words.
The Numbers are "codes" for the letters.
01 ... A
02 ... B
03 ... C .......

Use the mode and light command in the following Combinations:

• mode thermal & light off -> camera
  
• mode infrared & light off -> camera
  
• mode normal & light black -> camera

Using the combinations you'll see different numbers painted on the walls and the blackboard in the room.

09 (thermal and light off) translates to I
01-13 (infrared and light off) translates to AM
12-25-01 (mode normal and light black) translates to LYA

So the password we are looking for is IAMLYA.

Run sudo cat introduction.mp3 and level3 you've finished this level.
