Newbies Complete Guide to Warband Mod installation! (PC/MAC)
由 Chikuwu 制作
Hello to everyone, im an old M&B Veteran from since the first closed testing sessions on the original game, and id like to help you new players into the wonderful world of Warbands mods!

Ill go trough the basics of How-To install mods and launch them.

I will NOT go trough Steam workshop mod installation, as constant updating that one happens to break saves in many occations, and most best total conversion mods are not in steam workshop due to size limitations.

First we need to go trough where and how you install the mod/module!
FIRST HAND NOTE, THIS IS HOW YOU DO IT FOR THE STEAM VERSION OF THE GAME.

If youve got either the taleworlds website version, just find the folder of your game where you installed it to. if you cant find it, thats all on your end, since i cant magically know where youve someday installed it :D

On PC, you should navigate EITHER to your Steam/steamapps/common/Mountblade Warband/MODULES folder.

On MAC or LINUX, Right click on Mount and Blade Warband/Properties/Local Files/Browse Local Files/Modules, and Leave Modules folder open.

In this folder, you find the "game modules" along with all DLCs. If you own Napoleonic Wars, Viking Conquest DLC, theyre shown here too as a module. The folder should have these folders inside it.

Viking Conquest (newest DLC)
Native (Original warband game)
Napoleonic Wars (NW multiplayer DLC)

Now, you DONT need to touch these folders, or never even modify them. The nice thing about Warbands modding, is that almost every time when you download a mod, its downloaded as a full module, just like Native, Viking Conquest, and NW DLCs are. When we install mods, we just Copy-paste the Folder of a mods module here.

Now next, ill show you an example of a mod that i installed to my SSD (Picture below, with correct Folder order.)

The Module/Mod i used is a total conversion mod called "Prophesy of Pendor" version 3.711 latest.

Next, we find out all reliable sources to download your mods from.
Now to where we can get the mods/modules from!
Here ill cover some of the basic sites most people (Me included) download mods from.

http://www.moddb.com/games/mount-blade-warband/mods Mod Database has been the one of the biggest ones for me. i go there everyday to see if my favourite mods have been updated, and i download them as necessary. You dont need an username to download from MODDB.

http://www.nexusmods.com/mbwarband/? Nexusmods is one that most of you whove played Skyrim or Oblivion Know of. Its made by the same Nexus author as Skyrim nexus. But instead, Warband Nexus. part of the same network, you can use your Skyrim Nexus Login data to download from their servers. my 2nd best site i use.

3rd, being the www.forums.Taleworlds.com. <-- Original developers forums, where people first post their mods at. a bit harder to find mods from compared to the other sites, but usable.

Now, First thing to do after youve gone and downloaded a mod from one of the sites, you need to make sure the file you downloaded ISNT IN RAR/7zip/packed FORMAT, but in regular format as a folder.

If you end up with a modulename.RAR file, you need to download a program that can unpack these files. (7Zip, Winrar being the two best options, and free.)

After youve downloaded the mod, and made sure its in the right format as a folder, move the Module by copy-pasting it (or cut-pasting, whatever you go with) and moving it to the forementioned Steam/Steamapps/common/MountBlade Warband/Modules folder, so it looks like this.

So the files are in Modules/Prophesy of Pendor/DATA folder and the other files of the game.

BE SURE THERE IS NO USELESS FOLDERS, like Modules/Prophesy of Pendor/prohpesy of Pendor/DATA and other files. Having one too many folders inbetween Module and the main data folder of the mod itself, makes it not appear on the Launcher later.

Now, we have downloaded and installed the total conversion module/mod called Prophesy of Pendor. Next, ill show you how to START the module we just downloaded.

Starting the Mod
Next, we will start the mod. Now, i want to make it clear, that you

CANT START MORE THAN ONE MOD, OR YOU CANT MIX TWO MODULES BY COPY-PASTING THEM IN ONE FOLDER.

And also remember, MANY of the total conversion mods like AD1257, ACOK, etc, already have simple mods like Diplomacy, etc installed on them, and most Modules out there that are the best are "modpacks" filled with enchanted vanilla gameplays like Floris Expanded Module.

Now, start the game launcher from either your Desktop Shortcut, or Steam Library. a LAUNCHER window pops up, showing this -->

Now, press the NATIVE thats showing up on the folder, and Choose "Prophesy of Pendor" or the one you downloaded yourself to select it as the active Module.

REMEMBER, YOUR SAVES ARE BASED ON THE MODULE. YOU WONT LOSE SAVES ON OTHER MODULES, THEYRE SEPARATE FROM OTHER MODULES.

Now, you can go to and press play, and start again in a whole new mount and blade total converted world, and become the King of the Iron Throne in ACOK mod for example, like i did -->

Youre set, have fun in the game!
And if youre feeling like you want to support me more or ask for more guides, you can donate to me (in form of Steam items, games, or anything) and ask also personally if youd like me to create a specific guide for a specific Module.

So the folder ACOK 2.1 in the modules folders says as a type (folder and not rar/zip) -even though i did use rar to extract it onto Modules, some of folders say wine doc. or text docs. There is two different types of play whenever using m&b through steam, conifgure(basically the setup/launcher for a pc if it was a pc) and then you have to (save and exit) the conifguration. Then play, without going through the regular launcher that a pc would have to in order to play.

You still need to start the game trough the launcher, and change the active module from NATIVE to ACOK 2.1.

If you have NOT put the module folder you downloaded from the internet, then youve pasted it to a wrong folder construction.

re-check your folder construction, make sure the folder ACOK 2.1 isnt as a ZIP file or RAR file, but as extracted.

maybe if steam added something like nexus mod manager for steam workshop then it would be a lot more simple to work with.
