Custom companion creation guide (No mods required)

Got bored of your old comapanion? Wanted a new one, but seen them all allready? Well then, let me help you out then! (Small bonus: Build yourself a home anywhere you want.)

Preparing the companion.
This step makes your companion follow you and listen to your orders.

1. Get the NPC you want as your new companion.
2. Open the console
3. Click at that NPC
4. Type "Stopcombat"
5. For more loyality to you, type "removefromallfactions"
6. Type "setconsolescopequest followers"
7. There are two ways:
A) Type "Forcerefintoalias dogmeatcompanion" (Will keep distance like Dogmeat, but wont be able to keep companions with Dogmeat alias ("B" has no Dogmeat alias))
B) Type "Forcerefintoalias companion" (Will stay close, but wont be able to keep companions with no Dogmeat alias ("A" has Dogmeat alias))
8. Type "Setrelationshiprank player 4"
9. Type "Setplayerteammate 1"

Done, your companion is ready. But if you want your companion get better (For example, stop attacking thoose settlers) follow the next steps.
Using two vanilla companions at the same time.
This is easy.
(Use this for 1st companion, or if you're using Dogmeat.)
1. Open Console
2. Select your first companion.
3. Type "setconsolescopequest followers"
4. Type "Forcerefintoalias companion"
5. Type "Setrelationshiprank player 4"
6. Type "Setplayerteammate 1"

(Use this for 2nd companion, or if you're using any other companion than Dogmeat.)
1. Open Console
2. Select your first companion.
3. Type "setconsolescopequest followers"
4. Type "Forcerefintoalias dogmeatcompanion"
5. Type "Setrelationshiprank player 4"
6. Type "Setplayerteammate 1"
Making the companion more loyal and less aggresive.
This will prevent you companion from: running away, attacking settlers/DC guards and not helping you in fight.
There are two ways to do it

1) Original, worse way
1. Open Console
2. Select your companion
3. Type (If your companion fights with someone that isnt hostile to you) "Stopcombat"
4. Type "Setav 2bc 1"
5. Type "Setav 2bd 4"
6. Type "Setav 2c1 2"

2) Better way suggested by Danballs
1. Open Console
2. Select your companion
3. Type "addtofaction 1c21c 1"

Done, your companion will be more loyal to you now, and wont attack any innocent people!
Changing face of your companion
WARNING! USE ONLY ON HUMANS!

1. Take off any headwear of your companion
2. Open console
3. Select your companion
4. Write down your companion's REF
5. Type "Showlooksmenu (Companion's REF)"
6. Change the look of your companion

This will let you make your human companion get a new look!
Preventing your companion from dying.
This will make you feel safe about your companion:

For non-unique NPCs (Yao Guai, Deathclaw, Molerat etc.)
1. Open console
2. Select your companion
3. Type "setav health 1000000"

For unique NPCs (All named NPCs and few unnamed)
1. Open console
2. Find your companion's ID
3. Type Setessential (NPC ID) 1

Now your companion wont die!
Stoping your companion's fight with you/non-hostile NPC
This short step will make your companion stop fighting with you after you hit him.

1. Open console
2. Select your companion
3. Type "stopcombat"
Making your companion stop following you.
Got tired of your companion but dont want to disable it? Follow the Next steps!

1. Open console
2. Click on you companion and write down his ref (the numbers and letters at the top of console menu like: 0001cf3d[EP] (Dont write [EP] or [PP]!))
3. Type "setconsolescopequest followers"
4. Type "emptyrefalias dogmeatcompanion/companion" (Depends on your choice during making.)

And this is how to get your companion back!

1. Open console
2. Type "prid (Companion's REF)"
3. Type "Moveto player"
4. Type "setconsolescopequest followers"
5. Type "forcerefintoalias (dogmeatcompanion/companion)"
Making your companion leave your power armor.
This might take a while, depending on your stealing perk.
1. Click on your companion and type "setplayerteammate 0"
2. Save the game.
3. Try to steal the core.
4. After he left your power armor, select him again and type "setplayerteammate 1"
+Bonus! Build yourself a house anywhere!+
This short step will show you how to build ANYWHERE!

If you are near any location and that location is marked as "Cleared"

1.Open console
2.Type "Player.placeatme c1aeb"
3.Close console
4.Activate your new workshop station.
(Repeat step 4. every time you want to build)

If you arent near any location or the location you are near isnt marked as "Cleared"

1. Open Console
2. Type "Player.placeatme c1aeb"
3. Type help "(Name of location you are at)" 4 lctn
4. Search for the name of that location and remember it's ID
5. Type setlocationcleared (ID of location you are at) 1
7. Close console
6. Activate your workshop station.
(Repeat steps 6. everytime you want to build!)

Second method

1.Open Console
2.Type "Player.placeatme c1aeb"
3.Type "TGM"
4.Close Console
5. Hold V
6. After you finish, open console.
7. Type "TGM" (this time to disable it.)
(Repeat steps 1., 3., 4., 5., 6., and 7. everytime you want to build!)


Done! Enjoy your new House!
(You will not be able to have any settlers and you wont be able to move fast travel point, remeber that!)

Bonus informations about custom companions
1. You can use traders as companions. Just select "talk" while being close and talking to him.
2. If your companion has a problem with an limb, open console, select him and type "resurrect". This SHOULD fix the problem
3. You can spawn your wife/husband and use him/her as a companion. Just type "Help Nora 4" to get your wife's ID or, if you are a female, type "Help Nate 4" to find your husband's ID.
4. If your companion is too big to fit indoors, try using "setscale 1.00", "setscale 0.75", "setscale 0.50" or "setscale 0.25"
5. You can have two companions. Just make sure one has Dogmeat alias (A), and the another one has normal companion alias (B).

Remember that most IDs of ULF unnamed NPCs that are perfect for companions starts from 00249!
Using NPCs that's ID starts from FF might be good too, but i didnt tried it yet.

Since Wiki isnt fully filled yet, i would appritiate if someone could help me get the real names of (weaker/stronger variant)
Known Issues
Your character might react to your companion as he (your companion) would be a Dogmeat. That's because Dogmeat alias was used to make him follow you.

After saving and reloading, your companion might be gone.

Sometimes your companion will be attacked on sight. You should try steps "Preparing your companion" and "Making your companion more loyal and less aggresive" again. If it wont work, you should try with a new one.

If you will have any issues with your companions , tell me what are those and how you got them, and i will write them down here and try to find solutions for them.
Renaming (Requires mods!)
Since people are asking me how to rename, there is no way to do this without mods. But i found a tutorial about renaming. Still, you need two mods to make that work. Here's the link: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/articles/8/?

Comming to think about it i just wanted to have a little group of people following me and i didn't care if i could command them or not, just that they followed me. Oh very well. I can always come up with something in my roleplay.

Just asked because i have a nomad character roleplay and i did want to have some people just walking with and following me.

@BepsGAY I made this guide a decent while ago so i don'r remember it all that well, tho i'm pretty sure that it's in there. Plus you can only have 2 companions max (unless you're using mods or maybe temporary companion aliases, tho haven't tried)

Sorry if i'm being stupid now or didn't understand what the guide said. But i have a question.
How do i do if i want like a gang of companions? Say one is a deathclaw, the other a raider and the last a brahmin for example. Do i just use the "Preparing the companion" part for all those NPCs and use the commands to make them less or more aggressive and then will they just follow me around?
