Sediments
The new and powerful sediment-algorithm in WorldCreator simulates the naturally occurring material that is broken down by processes of weathering and erosion, and is subsequently transported by the action of wind, water, or ice, and / or by the force of gravity acting on the particle itself. This feature is unique for terrain generating programs and gives you a lot of new possibilities.

Algorithms
The filters are using 13 algorithms for terrain calculation. Each algorithm is named by the modification it performs (see below picture and description).

  • Flatness 1 - Terrain structures are smoothed and have hills.
  • Flatness 2 - Terrain structures are smoothed and have mountains.
  • Flatness 3 - Terrain structures are smoothed and have hills.
  • Fluvial 1 - Engraves the terrain surface. Rivers and valleys will be carved into the terrain.
  • Mixed 1 - Terrain structures are smoothed. Terrain will have mountains and hills.
  • Mixed 2 - Terrain structures are smoothed. Terrain will have hills.
  • Mountains 3 - Creates classic terrains with fluvial and sand structures.
  • Ridged 1 - Creates steep and mountainous terrain.
  • Sand 1 - Creates dunes, sand and slopes.
  • Stones 1 - Depending on the settings the terrain gets rocky or flattened (e.g. plateaus) or hilly.
  • Stones 3 - Creates very rocky terrain.
  • Stones 4 - The terrain surface will be rough, rocky, mountainous and steep.
  • Stones 5 - The terrain surface will be rough, rocky, hilly or sandy.
Thousands of Presets
This feature is a major addition to WorldCreator. It allows the user to add realistic sedimentation on top of the terrain. There are 56 different sediment filters, but each one has 11 settings to further tweak, resulting in a nearly unlimited amount of possible effects.

The filter preset library contains over 2600 pre-configured filters you can chose from and is ideal for creating a terrain that roughly fits your envisioned one that you can then finetune to your liking.

Simulated Transport
Sediment is transported based on the strength of the flow that carries it and its own size, volume, density, and shape. Stronger flows will increase the lift and drag on the particle, causing it to rise, while larger or denser particles will be more likely to fall through the flow.

With the sediment feature in WorldCreator, you have a powerful tool to simulate this particle transport. We give you a lot of options and variables to create, edit and tune your landscape based on realistic behavior. You can choose between a variety of fluvial systems. Fluvial processes include the motion of sediment and erosion or deposition on river beds and streams. It also includes glaciers, ice sheets, or ice caps.

This gives you the possibility to create most realistic time-shaped landscapes ever!
Endless Number of Possibilities
With introducing the sediments to WorldCreator, we included 7 base filters and 11 fine tuning sliders as input which gives you total control over the sediment-system. They also work very well in addition with the already known Selection, Render and Post settings. The result is an endless number of possible terrains.
