Hello
First off, this is not going to be a guide of speeding up your internet or anything like that. This is aimed for people that wish to find a new game server to play on, but find it irritating when it takes ages to join and then find that the server is not very good and with rude staff. This tutorial should also be simple, and I'm guessing that the majority know this, however, I hope this comes in handy for less experienced GMod Players.


1. You need to go to your options menu when you open your game.

2. You need to navigate to the 'Multiplayer' tab in the options

3. Once you have got to these options, you need to go down to where is shows 'Allow all custom files from server'.

4. Change the selected option to 'Only allow map files'.

5. Click 'Apply' then 'OK' and you should be able to join servers a lot faster. However, you will see some errors if they have custom models or vehicles. However, if you join and you like it, turn it to 'Allow all custom files from server' and get their content pack.


This should help people that are unaware how to do this and hopefully saves time and enables people to be about to scout around servers easier and more efficiently to find one right for them.
