Have you gone weeks eating nothing but cabbage and long for some nice red meat?

Did you gather up all the guns and ammo on the map but wish there was something to do with it besides shoot zombies?

Don't you think a game that takes place in rural Kentucky needs some more wildlife?

Can't wait for the vanilla game to get around to adding hunting?

Well, a proper hunting system with real animals modeled like zombies will have to wait for the developers, but until then there's UngratefulDead's Hunting Mod! Version 2.0 offers 16 different prey options: pigeons, quail, ducks, geese, wild turkeys, rabbits, squirrels, raccoons, opossums, skunks, foxes, beavers, deer, elk, wild pigs, and black bears. In order to hunt these elusive creatures you will first need an appropriate gun and some ammunition (or wooden spears, but your chances of success will be very low), then you must forage to find animal traces or animal tracks (2 animal traces to an animal track, 3 animal tracks to a large animal track) which can be used to initiate a hunt. Success is never guaranteed, but characters with points in Sneaking or Aiming will fare much better than characters without, so take that Hunter trait!

In addition to the new hunting system, all small game and birds can be trapped using the base game traps and appropriate bait/locations (beavers are vegetarian, possums and raccoons can be found anywhere and will eat anything rats will, most woodland creatures are nocturnal).

This mod is incompatible with any other mods that change the base trapping tables. It has also been integrated into Hydrocraft (a mod which I highly recommend), so don't run both of them or you'll get a bunch of duplicate recipes.
