How to successfully play quiplash via internet
由 teejaey 制作
EDIT: This guide was created before better solutions like discord's screen sharing were created and I know myself how much they are superior. I will leave the guide up for preservative reasons. Please stop commenting about that below.

This guide shall help you how to stream quiplash to friends via internet with the hopefully least delay, without using either a broadcasting software or something like twitch

What you need
You need at least 3 things to accomplish playing the game via internet:

1st: something to stream your screen with (not xsplit or obs)
2nd: something to talk to your friends (like Teamspeak) and
3rd: something to stream the game sound (like virtual audio cable)

This guide is going to be structered in these three steps. If you have any questions, add me and I'm maybe (but not guaranteed) able to help you.
1st: visuals
To stream the game, I recommend to use either google hangouts or skype to share your screen.
Both have their advantages and disadvantages.

For example:
If you want to share the windowed game via hangouts, it results in a black screen, while it works fine in skype.
But on the other hand, the quality in hangouts is way better than in skype, plus you can share your screen without a limitation of people joining the call, unlike in skype, where you need premium for that.

Screensharing with hangouts:

you will of course need a google+ account to use hangouts.
go to the google hangouts website and start a call

when you got that done, share your link to the call, disable your webcam etc.

after that, click on this symbol on the left

and select "entire screen". You should then set Quiplash to fullscreen mode and everybody in the call can see the game on your screen.

Screensharing with Skype:

Simple:
  • start a call
  • get your friends in
  • click on the tab "call", then on share screens

now you have the option to either share your whole screen or just a window. I recommend running Quiplash as a small window and select the game in skype as target. everybody should be able to see the game now.

keep in mind that your friends should mute themselves in hangouts or skype when they spectate the game.
2nd: audio
to share not only your screen, but also the game sound, you need something to stream your pc sounds as a microphone.

Some of you are able to use the sound option "Stereomix" to do so, but I recommend the software "Virtual Audio Cable" for those who don't have the possibility.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/6z5bu9pkfqop707/Virtual_Audio_Cable_4.10.zip?dl=0

you can use this version, as you can see, it's stored in my dropbox, so there is nothing to worry about.

You don't have to necessarily share your sound, but if you don't trust me, because you don't know me, and I don't know you, don't follow this step.

When downloaded, either run setup.exe or setup64.exe, dependig on your os (I'm using windows 7 64bit, so I run setup64.exe)

This will install a new audio device into your sounds, called line 1:

as you can see, I also have got line 2, but that's not necessary for you.

If you want two lines, for example, in case one of the lines doesn't work because reasons, go back into the downloaded folder, and open either x86 or x64, then run vcctlpan.exe as administrator.

in the window, top left, the number next to "Cables": you set it from 1 to 2 and hit set. done.

Now for the important part.

Right-click the speaker icon in the Windows 7 Notification Area and select "Playback Devices." (If the speaker icon isn't visible, click the small arrow to the left of the Notification Area.)

In the Sound window on the Playback tab, find Line 1 in the list of recording devices and use it as default device. (don't forget to redo this when you're done playing)

After that, click on on the "Recording" tab and double-click on Line 1.

Select the "Listen" tab and check "Listen to this device."

Click the "Playback through this device" drop-down menu and select "[Your Speakers/Headset]"

Now you can use the game sound as microphone and listen to it yourself at the same time.

As last step, in hangouts or skype, select "Line 1" as the microphone you want to use in the call. Everything else can stay how it already is.
3rd: communication
Now just gather your friends in teamspeak and start playing. But you should check in the options the your devices are not set to default, or teamspeak will try to use line 1 as playback device and your friends can hear an echo.

You don't necessarily need to use teamspeak, of course, you just should two communication services at once: one for the talking, one for the game stream.

As final tips:
  • don't stream via twitch or something like that, unless you like delays of up to 30 seconds
  • use your phones, it's way more comfortable
  • if jackbox.tv doesn't react, refresh the page
  • have fun ;)

I played now with six of my friends via hangouts and we didn't encouter a single problem (except connection issues like a little lag, but that's another story)

I hope this guide helped some of you, and if there are still any questions, comment below are pm me on steam.

Happy Quiplashing

People here are so toxic. I got to play it once (I got invited to this, and then patently stupid [which I don't personally own {since it is made so I don't have to} and it was a very fun evening.)

It is fairly easy to find players nowadays, just ask around on public Discords like the person I played with did, and you WILL find people eventually.

Why they never implemented a matchmaking option with voice chat? This game is useless to play if i have to invite people wich are usually busy, i basically get like 2 people to play Warzone with me and one of them is my brother so it would be even worse for a game like this. Basically unplayable. :cozybrawlhalla2:
