Get a ship with at least 10 nividium, and at least 10k credits. Fly to PTNI. Access the stock exchange remotely. Buy however many shares you can. Eject the nividium from your cargo hold. Sell shares for profit. Pick up the nividium. Rinse repeat.
That's what the above guide is working with in a very roundabout way. The game basically bases the number of shares on the amount of a ware in the stock exchange area (across all the systems that the stock exchange "operates" in). This is in stations and ships present in the systems, but not floating in space directly. Buy when you have the stuff in inventory, and sell after ejecting it, and rinse repeat.
