Step 1
Copy half the ship, be careful when copying large ships.

Step 2
Delete the rest of the ship, save ship as nessesary.

Build a line down and back to paste from as the make the ship paste so the core in the desired place.

Step 3
Once the line of blocks is back and down where it needs to be, delete all but the last block in the line.

Paste half of the ship on the line.

Delete the block and boom, core moved.

Before

After
Disclaimer/Warning
Copying large areas take alot of computer resources, be careful when copying huge things. I am not responsible for any damage or freezes the may come with copying large ships. Try copying in sections if it is really huge.

also spoke to the smedit dev - the version 2 is a bit on hold since with the recent coding changes they have to redo it from scratch basically but they are waiting for a bit because the codes gonna get changed again - I've seen the I guess you would call it alpha smedit 2 in action and it destroys the current version

it works for me I never understood what people ment by update it still works you just gotta tweak it a bit for certian models (check for -0 in blender as that is what causes most glitches)

that ship is a model I put in through a 3d model 9 days ago

and this model here is made by Bobbybighoof the admin of GenXNova (and current devolper of smedit) we are testing the alpha asteroid as a space station (for laag fps loss and soul crushing glitches) its hollow at 600x600x600 and 1.2million blocks more of these will be replacing some planets (around 40%)

Is SMedit updated?
ForgeTec 2015 年 8 月 11 日 上午 10:10
or just download smedit and use the move core tool (warning save 2 copies of this and move 1 core then spawn in single play to test if it works - sometimes the core doesn't translate if it hits something thus why 2 copies)

It was just a story relating to the topic, your tutorial's solid.

...hence why I said copying large things isn't recommended

I just finished transposing a 1:1 Battlestar Galactica in order to reposition a misaligned ship core. I had to cut the ship into 143 cross-sectional pieces to prevent Java from crashing. 1/10 would not do again. Star-Made 101: Make sure your ship core is in the exact position you want it to be, convenient to access and build your ship along the same axes; it will prevent a lot of headaches in the future! A SMEdit update can't come fast enough...
