Halifax-Class Colony Ship

Another ship that was originally based on the Blue-2 but later modified the Victoria-Class Blockade Runner chasis, is the Halifax-Class Colony Ship.

The concept for this ship literally came about when one engineer asked another what it would be like if a hangar bay was welded under a blockade runner, thus the Halifax-Class was born.

The hangar bay located on the bottom of the ship is capable of fitting most small craft and fighters giving the Halifax-Class the capabilites of a small carrier. In addition, its middle section contains an industry collection of 6 refineries and 6 assemblers, giving it more than respectable capacity to perform as a modest industrial ship.

Its speed suffers from its mass, but the Halifax-Class was never meant to perform independently without escorts, but despite this it has 14 gatling turrets, 2 missile turrets and 5 forward rocket launchers for defense.

its battery power is provided by 15 batteries, powered by no less than 40 solar panels making the Halifax-Class capable of functioning as a recharge station for ships. This number is low, but the middle deck of the vessel has considerable spare space for additional batteries. Internally it has three large reactors and 8 backup small reactors in case of emergencies.

As for its speed, though it was built with the engines of a blockade runner, its not a very fast ship because of all the additional weight of an industrial section and the large hangar bay, but its still respectable enough to manage itself. Thanks to its defensive systems the Halifax-Class can fend off an attack while it powers its engines to make an escape.
