A Guide to Octagons

Hello everyone
This is my first guide and I hope it's useful to anyone new to Reassembly or anyone who's been struggling as much as I have with the Plasma cannon sizing from the default faction.

Without further ado, I present an efficient and effective way of integrating any octagonal shape into square ships.

3x3 octagons use the smallest sqrt(2) shape but stacked 3 times.

im trying to fit the 2x2 and 3x3 octagons of the bismuth+ but i cant seem to fit them

i figured out the first method on my own, but the second method was something i never thought about... cool

Version one I figured out a while back from observing other people's designs. The big surprise for me was taking the rectangle from the palette then shrinking it to make it fit. I also found it useful to fill the spots where you have triangles with triangular point defense guns or a tiny thruster stacked on a small thruster attached to the side of the octagon. Version one also works better in the middle of a larger ship so that the block grid is maintained in all directions.

Version 1 works for me. You may have to resize the little half pieces for some octogon sizes.

Yeah, probably. Either I did something wrong or they changed the dimension of one or more pieces.

Soulsphere, this guide is very old and I haven't played in quite a while either, some things might've broken somewhere :steamhappy:
