VR Skill Evaluation

描述
Allows the player to directly purchase knowledge of NPC skills. This mod tries to balance the intended cost of discovering an NPC's skills, without the tedium of the vanilla approach.

Basically, I got tired of either doing the chat mini-game, or sitting in the landing bay playing the remote hire-replace game until finding an employee I wanted. The idea that a VR job simulation could be used for interview and placement testing makes a lot of sense, so I went with it.

I may eventually turn this mod into some sort of software option on the Skunk, but for now I'm happy.

1. The 'Show me your skills/profile' option is replaced by 'Evaluate skills/profile (XXXXX Cr)' unless the player knows that NPC's skills.
Cost = 15%~40% (bell-curve) * Hire cost + 7000~9000 (bell-curve)

2. New hires will automatically be flagged to have visible skills. NPCs hired before this mod was installed and that still have unknown skills will have the 'Evaluate' option but it will cost 0 Cr.

--Possible Issues--

This should work fine with vanilla, but may run into problems with any mod that modifies employee:

1. Conversation scripting.
2. Skill view/unlock behavior.

I haven't run into any issues with adding/removing this mod, but YMMV.

Thanks! And it was well worth the time -- this is a nicely executed mod and great piece of work. I only wish that I'd seen it sooner.

And that, you know... that I'd remembered to include the compatibility trigger in HR's last release, but I'm affraid I can be easily distractable at times... -.-;;

Vim Razz, thank you very much for finding the time to investigate and resolve this! And just thank you in general, as well. Your work is a pretty impressive contribution. Hope I didn't cause you too much of a headache.

@Grandsome,
I looks like you're correct. Human Resources (v1.3.4) isn't properly detecting this mod to trigger HR's menu compatibility setting for it. I'll get that fixed later tonight.

@Beans,
Having gone through your mod pretty thoughly last week to build the afoementioned compatibility setting, I'm pretty comfortable saying it doesn't have any problems with Rebirth 3.53.

Checked it out and didn't find any obvious conflicts with the 3.52 code. Also did some manual tests and everything seems to work as expected. If a detailed description of any issues can be provided, I'll try to troubleshoot a bit deeper.

Maybe it's a confict with the Human Resource mod, I'll troubleshoot when I have the time for testing.

Sorry for the delay. Haven't been playing Rebirth all that much lately. I'll try to check the code to see if it conflicts with the latest stuff by the end of the day.

And you're welcome, SirJavalot. =)

I'll admit, I do agree about the price, but figured it sorta offsets the fact that there is no "investment" cost like you would see with a software purchase for the Skunk. Anyway... design decisions aside, I hope this mod has improved the Reborth experinece for at least a few people!

Just installed, seems to work fine for me on 3.52. @Grandsome - maybe you have another mod that conflicts with this?

Thank you very much, it's great. Although sometimes the text is a bit too large for the little menu, and I do think the pricing is a little high. (I'm a procrastinator sorry :D ).
Grandsome 2015 年 3 月 31 日 下午 3:01
Doesn't seem to work with 3.52.

This mod was built and tested under 3.1, as well as flagged 3.1 dependent. What specific issue are you having?

Please update it for XR 3.1
