Project 601 - Patrol Corvette

It has always been SEC Doctrine to field an expansive fleet of smaller vessels, rather than focus resources on a smaller pool of large combatants. However this still requires said vessels to be effective and easy to control.

This light combatant role was formerly filled by Project 435 and its derivatives, The Slipfleet Admiralty has found the level of experience required to effectively use that platform to be much too high.

To rectify this mistake, a new contract was awarded to SEC Hydroworks for a new light warship designed by Naval committee. Unfortunately this initially resulted in Project 480, which even SEC High Command thought was far too penny-pinching and underwhelming.

Hydroworks would then go back to the drawing board, literally cutting chunks out of their latest attempt at SEC's new standardized destroyer until reaching a size and weapons loadout that felt appropriate.

The resulting ship was Project 601. Though large for a corvette, its start as a much larger destroyer has granted it much improved survivability over the outgoing Projects 435 and 480.

This ship is also the first to feature the thrust override cruise system Slipfleet has been flirting with but never committed to until now, as well as the ability to warn the commander when within rocket range of enemy combatants
