Introducing Day Number 03, the Combine Harvester - ‘Hector’

- Lore -

"We assumed these planets were the unfortunate victims of the great divide; frozen in time whilst their peers aged in solitude. From the very beginning we had it wrong, they were not victims, but catalysts.

The initial excavation, and the findings uncovered, justified the need for a larger workforce to our expedition's benefactors. Modified Type-616 field harvesters were deployed to the surface in order to uncover the secrets of Hyperia. What we found was beyond anything we could have imagined. Fields of petrified remains, as far as the eye could see, laying mere inches beneath the ground. Those found deeper had been preserved in near entirety; their expressions vivid and eerie in contrast to their contorted positions.

As we dug closer to the northern pole, the extent of these graveyards increased exponentially, until finally we found the reason: a black monolith of such exceptional quality, that it appeared completely untouched, despite weathering millenia. The energy it gave off matched radiation emitted when the gates first fell, leading us to conclude the two are at the very least related, but could themselves have caused the barriers to be erected in the first place.

Though this is a scientific endeavour, our efforts have attracted many of the faith: men of the cloth, intent on witnessing our findings. I myself am a man of science like many of my peers, but I can’t help but listen to the talk by the campfires at night, and through the halls in the day. Whispers of great battles between angels and entities beyond the veil, a network of planets that held up the walls between our dimensions, using these pillars as conduits.

I put little stock in religion, but I don’t believe in coincidence. The level of detail these passages share with our findings is so profound, that I have no choice but to conclude there must be a link. My only question now is, if there was some ‘massive conflict’ that caused all this, fields of the dead, where are bodies of those they fought?”
