Intro
ALL ACHIEVEMENTS CAN BE UNLOCKED IN A SINGLE PLAYTHROUGH! My first playthrough which gave me 100% took around 70 hours. I'll be covering the ones that gave me the most trouble and not all of them, as 90% of achievements occur organically if you do every quest as soon as they pop up.

In addition, for fun, here's a compiled list of all of the movies that can be watched in-game over the Weekend that I've bothered to add to a list, as well as cultural references that the characters make. [letterboxd.com]

pls rembr, you can get an achievement going over turn timer or having a character die and then resetting the fight.

You gain NO achievement for unlocking every ability on the skill tree, nor do you get any for finishing all fights with Top Marks.
I cannot stress this enough. The game is very forgiving and I finished with an extra 177 Moons and 5015 Opals. You do not need to optimize for each encounter. You don't need to get Top Marks on bosses. You get minimal reward for minmaxing past a certain point. You don't need to have the Thief skill equipped for each fight. The game is about having fun. Don't feel compelled to sacrifice that for a reward that offers very little in the grand scheme of things.

Likewise, if you're going for 100%, you should have a lot of wiggle room to accomplish it. You do not need every karaoke session every day to get all characters to Max. You do need a lot of them but not all.

Non-Faye friendship levels between party members do (I'm pretty sure) absolutely nothing. Don't sweat filling those out.

There's no achievement associated with a late-game minigame worth 4000 Opals. I don't believe there's anything associated with it.

Remember!!! Have fun first, git gud second.
Sidequest Achievements
Demon Fisher King:
  • There are four fishing spots which unlock linearly.
  • This final achievement can only be unlocked past Monday Evening, Week 2.
  • The fishing log tells you when you're done at a particular spot. There's four lines of where fish can or can't be filled. Check that to know if you've caught all the fish in the Harbor or other locations!
  • I don't believe you get any reward for completing it. However, you do get rewards for participating. These are all aesthetic additions to the Black Magic Club clubhouse.
  • Sometimes you'll get furniture you don't see added. You did get furniture but there's addition customization down the line that you don't have immediate access to.
  • If you've been fishing for a while and haven't gotten any new furniture, you're probably done getting material rewards from it.
Some helpful tips
  • Each fish has a unique "pattern." Some fish are difficult, with a small window of opportunity while others are easy. Easy ones will always be easy and difficult ones will always be difficult. Using this, you can surmise if it's a fish you've probably already caught or not.
  • I have NO idea if depth matters for where fish are. It might.
  • I've noticed that some fishing holes start with fish in the same location, e.g. two fish of the same shape at the top. The fish may be seeded and not as "random" as they seem.
  • If you see a crowd of fish with different shapes, the fish you catch from them should be selected from those shapes. Just keep at it until it's done.
  • I just kept fishing in each spot until I got it.
  • The first location is the Harbor. The second is the Lighthouse. The third is the Sewer. The fourth is the Farm. Each has a " ! " Exclamation Mark quest attached to unlocking them, telling you when they're available.
Demon Angler:
  • Sometimes, when you have a fish hooked on the line, you'll see a red glow around it. That's a "Dire" variant.
  • I believe they show up randomly.
  • I don't know if they do anything but I assume not. There's no achievement for catching ALL Dire variants.

Everybody Loves Me:
  • Okay, so...This one takes a LONG time before you can complete it. The earliest it can be unlocked is Week 1.
  • You will probably be waiting on a single character to complete a story beat in order to unlock their social quest. Until then, just keep chipping away at them one by one.

Tips -
  • You do not have to minmax relationships by doing karaoke every day, as well as later additions like Rock, Paper, Scissors or Guess the Face. There's leniency in this aspect, as you should have spare time at the end to continue doing those activities. Rock Paper Scissors is NOT completely random, nor does it use any form of AI. Each character picks a single move and does that ad infinitum (which i think is funny) so you pick the opposite of what they do and just keep doing that.
  • Relationship levels have minimal gameplay effects. Maxing a relationship gives an Ability at the end of their quest, which needs to be studied to unlocked. Some give Abilities along the way, like Mercy's.
  • You can kiss and romance as many characters in the game as possible. Romance is denoted by a cutscene of kissing with pink roses in the border. Romance characters are Knute, Mercy, , Ti, Aina, Ocean, Kestrel, Henk, Fossa, and Primrose?!.
  • Some characters like Namako, Destin, Jem, Varka,, and Pangxie, CANNOT be romanced.

Tastes Fine to Me:
  • This can be accomplished in the mid-game if you're trying to do all quests. I don't know how long it's available because I did it right away.
  • You'll get a mid-game interaction with Destin while he's on the Roof, after the island is sealed off from the outside world. He'll ask you to drink some rotten milk and you have to accept to get this.

Dumpster Diver:
  • Keep checking the trash. You'll know it has happened when they turn golden and by getting a small cutscene related to it.

Man of Culture:
  • Keep renting tapes.
  • There's more tapes available than weeks so there's wiggle room to unlock it. You don't need to minmax for every week in order to get this.
  • This can only be done once per weekend, no tapes repeat, and each tape has a review in the local newspaper on Monday.

Haute Cuisine:
  • In the mid-game, you'll unlock a new way to progress the social interaction bar. It's in the school hallway and it's a unique cooking minigame. Some characters, like Ocean also have this as part of their social quests.

Birds Fly:
  • I believe there's a mid-game quest with Namako in the Lighthouse or Cemetery which gives this.

Creepy:
  • This should be available in an early game sidequest, just do all of them and you'll get this.

Combat Achievements
Defenses Breached:
  • Allow a Grunt to reach the bottom of the stage. Once they do, they should enter a breaching animation. Continue a turn without stopping them and they'll break the barrier, causing an instant loss.

One-Three Punch:
  • This requires a character unlocked in the middle of Week 7. It cannot be done before that.
  • Use Ti's special on enemies which have, minimum 2 health. If done right, it should push them in multiple directions. If you place characters in the way, you'll use a single move to make two combos. You'll know you've done this by the special animation which plays, which shows Ti's combo portrait on screen and the partner portrait will flash between both other participants.

Overpowered:
  • This can be achieved with multiple buffs. Here's an example that's almost certainly overkill. Use Knute to give an +1 Attack Up buff and Namako to give an enemy a Defense Down debuff. The debuff makes the 2x as vulnerable to damage, causing everything to be worth twice as much. From there, you can use Faye's +2 SPECIAL with +2 Almighty damage in a Combo Attack to accrue +2 more damage, while having the +1 Attack skill "No Knockback" equipped and the +1 Attack skill "Special Tactics", as well as the +2 Attack "Blood Pact" Aspect Shift. This garners a minimum of 10 damage in a single Combo.
  • This can be done relatively early in the game, as long as you're using the Defense Down debuff.

I'm On Fire:
  • Inflict Burn on an enemy with the "Burning Fist" Ability and then have another party member attack or stand next to that enemy on the same turn.

But I'm Invincible:
  • Meat Cubes are a late-game enemy that have 40 HP and cannot be passed through. I got this achievement as soon as they showed up by hitting them with Namako to give Def Down with Burning Fist. They should be weak to Flame. You can add Poison to this to tick their life down in a turn, while having Namako have "Fire Heal" so she doesn't take damage, Def Downing them each turn. Alternatively, wait until you get Fossa and use her SPECIAL on them

Actually I'm Too Tough:
  • This can only be achieved after garnering three Modifier Class party members, which you can do after Week 5. Once you gather them, put them in a party and win a fight.

Good Group:
  • See "Buddies"

Buddies:
  • This one is a little esoteric. Each fight, you pick your team. On their profiles, underneath their Friendship level with Faye, there should be small images of their teammates. What those are is a metric of whether they've been in a fight with each other. If you keep having Namako be in fights alongside Destin, Destin will appear on Namako's profile and vice-versa. Once will give them the first level of friendship and subsequent times will increase it. Once they have a yellow " + " plus sign on them, they'll have maxed out their relationship.
  • Frankly, I'd be more surprised if you COULDN'T get this achievement by the end of the game, as it seems unavoidable.

I'm Different:
  • Equip an Aspect Shift. In the top area of the Abilities, separated by a single line from everything else are Aspect Shifts.
  • They require an extra Study partner, totaling to three. A summary of them is that they change gameplay styles on certain Classes or on a character universally.
  • They can be equipped whenever and taken off whenever. You just need to commit three characters to unlocking one and putting it on.

Boss Strats
Each boss will drill you on three skills, in different measures: planning, positioning, and economy.

Planning is simple. Do you know what the boss will do next? For the first few turns, the answer will always be "no." For the rest of the fight, the answer should be "yes." You can then restart and complete the boss perfectly. Each boss telegraphs its moves, allowing you to plan for where you want to end your turn.

Positioning is just as critical. You won't know where the boss will drop adds. You don't know where the boss will target two or three turns in the future. So, you need to hedge your bets. Keeping the party split is generally preferred, though this poses some challenges. Sometimes the party being split will make them vulnerable to damage, which needs some on-the-fly repositioning, especially for Modifiers.

Generally, Phasers are recommended for bosses, as they're very mobile and hard for the boss to block with adds. However, they can't phase through bosses, which is difficult.

Modifiers really shine in boss fights. Each boss takes the same damage from each character, so they're very useful to have with fewer costs.

Rangers are quite handy and I take them more often than not. However, they have unique challenges that are unique to them alone. They get stuffed hard by adds, who they struggle to maneuver around. They can't pivot as easily as Brawlers and their range comes at the cost of their movement. If their only way to a boss is blocked by a three HP enemy, the AP cost becomes a whopping 6 AP at base damage to move past them, as a Range character can't approach an enemy which is in their way while a Brawler can. Brawlers can push and that recoupes some of the movement cost a blocking enemy taxes them.

Lastly, the most important thing for a fight, the AP economy. With a party of four, you're generally tasked with hitting the boss with three of them, per cycle. Ideally, you'd spend three AP to allow one character two attacks, three more AP to allow another character two more, and then one AP for one character and the final AP for the final character. This should total six attacks maximum.

So, what's the most effective way to get hits in while dealing with random enemy spawns and an uncertain next turn? Effective SPECIALs! Line SPECIALs are very crucial, as they have an uncapped range in most fights.

A lot of bosses, if not all, have random patterns that require good on-the-fly reactions. This can mean some turn 1 resets, as an initial random pattern may proclude you from reaching turn timer or, at the very least, stop you from finding the path to reach Top Marks. This can be really discouraging. It helps to think two or three turns ahead with where adds will walk. Resetting a fight is fast and easy, both at the fight's start through the pause menu and at the end with a retry button.

Bosses cannot be debuffed, they don't take DoT, and ATK UP buffs seem to be less useful against them, so they require a complete different skill set than other fights.
Bosses
Each Friday, there's a boss followed by a low-to-none combat Weekend. Only the first THREE BOSSES take extra damage from SPECIAL moves!!!!!

The rest take regular damage from all contact. Because of this, having very mobile characters or piercing SPECIALs is highly recommended. Likewise, all Classes do the same damage to each boss which are counted per-tick. Taking two or three healers into a fight can be, in some cases, more optimal than all Brawlers. Line AOEs are highly, highly recommended, as you can handle adds on one side of the stage and still hit the boss from the other.

Week 10,
  • CRT TV boss.
  • Teleports around and spawns adds. Position yourself between its current spawn and the AoE of where it'll appear next.

Week 9,
  • Giant Skeleton boss.
  • Fingers descend from sky, attacking them exposes the boss's weakpoint.

Week 8,
  • Spear boss.
  • Line AoEs that do double damage and adds that can act immediately, including Grunts. On hit, the boss pushes everyone to the back of the stage. Grunts can instantly win by opening the stage's boundary in the back.

Week 7,
  • Ball of Zombie Heads boss.
  • Drags itself across the stage in a line AoE, then spawns Zombie and Grunt adds. You can plan for the next turn by paying attention to where the line AoE ends, giving you future info about where to position your characters.
  • If Zombies are left alive, their heads are added to the ball and heal the boss.

Week 6,
  • No picture because the image is too unavoidably spoiler-y
  • Boiler boss.
  • Spawns four targets, as well as causes strong one-tile attacks and a sweeping less powerful AoE. After the targets get hit, it adds a warning of four single-target INSTAKILL attacks in the center of the room, as well as a large push AoE in the center.
  • On the next turn, a giant spigot in the center of the room. One attack per spawn progresses the fight but multiple attacks bring the boiler heat down. Four attacks are needed to win and progress is measured in the color of the spigot. I'm colorblind so I played with a filter but I believe the final color is pink. The boiler heat is not a metric of progress!!
  • Keeping it low is a priority but not fully mandatory in order to progress. NOBODY has ever let the boiler heat hit 100% so nobody knows what it does.
  • i hate this boss, it sucks

Week 5,
  • Tongues boss.
  • Spawns adds in the circular grid. It routinely destroys the innermost ring while it has a non-damaging push AoE that covers a quarter of the stage. It spawns new tongues each turn, increasing by one each time. The tongues have a damaging and pushing AoE. As of right now, where they land is not telegraphed. They may land in the same position each time. Each tongue only takes one hit.

Week 4,
  • Crab boss.
  • Eats the dock at the left of the stage in a three row AoE. Has one tile attacks where it drops four mines and spawns adds. If you kick a bomb into where it eats, it takes damage. If an enemy enters into its AoE, it eats them and heals.

Week 3,
  • Demon Parent boss. A small stage.
  • It drops polyps, which the game says are "hearts", in singular tiles, as well as Grunt adds. It takes damage from attacking the polyps but unattacked polyps spawn in more Grunts. The Grunts are trying to move the bottom of the stage to open the barrier and instantly win.
  • Otherwise, the boss doesn't have any attacks.

Week 2,
  • Ibis Eye boss.
  • Ibis's eye is behind a stained glass window. Each turn, it does a powerful line AoE. In order to do this, it breaks the stained glass which drops three glass fragments in a single tile attack. The glass fragments need to be attacked in order to heal the panel. I don't believe Ibis can break more than one panel at a time, so their line AoE should be in a predictable place each turn.

Week 0,
  • A three phase fight between a hoof-leg (like the Mom fight from The Binding of Isaac) which telegraphs its next location with a large square AoE. The AoE will push on all sides across the stage, bringing each character to a respective wall. If you mob it from the sides, you won't but pushed back as far. If you approach where it lands from the long side, that character will have extreme difficulty reaching the boss to hit if it's something like a Brawler.
Boss Achievements
Boss Achievements
If you're getting these achievements, you're almost assuredly beating the boss by the turn timer. If you're not beating them by the turn timer, you're probably not getting these achievements.

Hangnail:
  • Week 9,
  • hit one of the fingers spawned by the boss. I'm pretty sure you only need to hit it once, which progresses the fight but I haven't tested it.

Hot Stuff:
  • Week 6,
  • Spawn the valve in the middle of the room and then focus fire it. The first hit progresses the fight while the subsequent hits manage the boiler meter. You only need to hit it once per spawn to meet the turn timer.

French Style:
  • Week 5,
  • Use a penetrating AoE ability to hit two tongues. This becomes easier as the fight goes on, as it spawns more and more until it's defeated. I personally used Ocean's special for it, due to its reach and her utility in the fight. Some characters cannot accomplish it, like Varka or Faye.

Right in the Teeth:
  • Week 4,
  • The boss spawns mines that do damage when they're eaten. Kick on to the end of the stage with the AoE and you'll get this.

It Beats for Thee:
  • Week 2,
  • The achievement erroneously says this is on Week 3. It is not. In Week 2, there's an early boss which requires some deft work. It will push you back and force you to navigate a Meat Cube maze. After that, it'll drop the Meat Cubes and let you wail on it. This is absolutely necessary in order to meet turn timer and is quite difficult. Phases cannot pass through Meat Cubes and Range characters have difficulty moving forward due to how many enemies there are. Brawlers, in my experience, were my best bet. Forcefield is an ability that can spawn blocking objects on the field, which you can use to set up your maze navigation by putting a Brawler in front of them and having them get pushed back slightly less with a Forcefield to break their fall.

No idea, though I assume you have to collect all the fish in the first two before moving to the next and in a timely fashion to allow them to show up. I think those quests only occur on the weekends but I may be wrong.

Do I need to do something specific to unlock the fishing spots in the Sewers and at the Farm? I've completed the game, but the exclamation points for the unlocking quests never came up for me.
Carrion Live  [skapare] 6 dec @ 1:17
Nothing is wrong, he takes until at least Week 1 to unlock
RandomDude 5 dec @ 19:01
For the "Everybody Loves Me" achievement I just did Frossa's Rank 3 and maxed her out. I had already maxed out all other relationships. The only thing I can think of is Destin is at Lvl 3 but there is a clock next to him but no events. Any idea what went wrong? (I'm on week 2)
Sivenator 5 dec @ 9:04
That did the trick, thanks for the help!
Carrion Live  [skapare] 4 dec @ 14:49
Ah, you might have to do it again on the next week. It seems that it might progress linearly, with new characters each time you accept.
Sivenator 4 dec @ 14:12
I had Varka with the sheep quest. Henk was max level friendship, but he didn't pop up there
Carrion Live  [skapare] 4 dec @ 12:44
Hmm... It was the quest where you find them WITH Henk, right? Unfortunately, I can only say what went right in my game. When I did it, I had Henk's relationship level at MAX which might effect things. There are probably other minor quests with Henk that might, theoretically, deliver the skill when you're at MAX with him. I can't say for certain and I need to play the game more to do more testing.
Sivenator 4 dec @ 12:29
For some reason that quest only gave me a bunch of opals, not the item... 🥲
Carrion Live  [skapare] 4 dec @ 10:50
Yes, talk to Frantic Farmer on the Week 3 Weekend. You should have to find sheep with him, which will award you with Explosive 2.
