So, you downloaded TF2 Gold Rush, only to find that you can't use the unlocks without painstakingly grinding out achievements! If only there was a better way...
Well, now there is! In this tutorial, you'll learn how to edit your Team Fortress 2 - Gold Rush achievements, and thus acquire all your fancy, questionably period-accurate unlocks, with two methods. Do note that for certain weapons, you will still need to have them in Team Fortress 2.

You will first want to navigate to your Team Fortress 2 - Gold Rush system folder. Go to your Steam folder, then \steamapps\common\Team Fortress 2 Gold Rush\tf_goldrush. Inside you should see a file labelled "gamestate.txt", which is the file that tracks your achievement progress.
From then on, you have two options as to how you can proceed.

For those who are just getting into the game, or do not care about resetting their other Gold Rush achievements, I've provided my copy of gamestate.txt (which you can download here[www.mediafire.com]), with all (but only) the milestone achievements unlocked.

Simply download it, rename it to gamestate.txt and overwrite your existing gamestate.txt file. (If it exists) Congratulations, you now have all you need!

This method will only benefit you if you wish to preserve your old achievement progress, or unlock specific weapons only. For this, open up gamestate.txt, and copy one of the entries, then paste it later in the file. You will want to set the "value" field to 1, and the "id" field to the Milestone's corresponding id (The other fields do not matter).

As an example, this would unlock the Scout Milestone 2 achievement:



Do this for as many achievements as you want, and there you go! This will also work on regular achievements, though I won't provide their ids as I didn't note them down due to lack of interest or value. Oh, yeah, I should probably give you the id list, right? Here it is.

I hope this guide will help you enjoy Team Fortress 2 Gold Rush a little more! It's a really promising mod, but the odd exclusions and selective rebalances turn it into something not super in the spirit of it being a "classic TF2 time capsule", and having to re-unlock all the weapons through grinding achievements was even more annoying :/ Enjoy your Flare Guns and Axtinguisher combos, and go bomb those Snipers with the Caber! Woo!!
