TLDR
  • Star Called Sun unlocks when you obliterate a cultist with the RShG-2 rocket launcher; it is hidden, rare, and shows forever on your profile once earned.
  • Unlock the RShG-2 by finishing Prapor’s Grenadier and The Art of Explosion, reaching Prapor LL4, then buy a launcher and hunt cultists in night raids on Customs, Woods, Shoreline, or Night Factory.
  • Weaken a cultist with your primary gun, then land a splash kill by shooting the RShG-2 near his feet instead of a direct body hit, since players report direct hits sometimes fail to register for the achievement.
How to Get the Star Called Sun Achievement on Escape From Tarkov

But first you should know what you are chasing. Star Called Sun is a rare hidden achievement in Escape From Tarkov that you get by obliterate a cultist with the RShG-2 rocket launcher. It is pure flex that stays on your profile across wipes, nothing cosmetic attached, so you are basically doing this just to prove you can. You need the RShG-2 unlocked through Prapor, which means finishing Grenadier, then The Art of Explosion, and reaching Prapor level 4 so you can buy more launchers once you burn the first one.

And once you have an RShG-2 in your stash, treat it like a one shot thermobaric panic button. The launcher is single use, hits insanely hard, and its backblast can hurt you if you fire too close to walls or teammates, so you only pull it out when things are set up. The other half of the puzzle is the cultists. They only spawn at night between 22:00 and 7:00 on maps like Night Factory, Customs, Woods, Shoreline, and Ground Zero when you are level 21 or higher, so you want to chain night raids on one map until you learn their routes. Most players who care about this achievement quietly farm night Customs around stronghold because the layout is predictable and you can control angles way better than on Woods or Shoreline.

Now for the actual trigger. The requirement is simple on paper: kill a cultist while using the RShG-2. The annoying part is that players have seen direct body hits sometimes fail to count, while splash damage from hitting the ground or an object near the cultist tends to register more reliably. So the safe method is to chip a cultist down first with your main gun, keep him alive but low, then swap to the RShG-2 once you have a clean 30 to 40 meter lane. You step into a position where backblast is clear, aim slightly short so the rocket hits near his feet instead of center mass, and let the thermobaric blast finish him.

And after that you just need to stay alive long enough for the game to process it. If it worked, you should see the achievement pop in raid and then find Star Called Sun sitting in your achievements list back in the menu. If nothing shows up, assume the kill did not register as a rocket kill and plan another run. If you are still nervous about wasting the launcher, spend a few night raids first just farming cultists with a normal kit until their audio, paths, and ambush spots feel natural to you, then bring the RShG-2 and turn one of them into your achievement.
