TLDR
  • All-Wheel Drive unlocks when you complete either Skier’s “Choose Your Friends Wisely” or the BTR Driver’s “The Price of Independence”, and it gives the Modest Wallpaper hideout wall style.
  • Get there by hitting level 20, doing Mechanic’s “A Helping Hand” on Woods to meet the BTR Driver, then progressing his quest chain until you reach the Discombobulate fork that leads into those two choice quests.
  • In your chosen quest, ride the Customs → Reserve → Woods → Lighthouse transits, finish all kill and interaction objectives in that run, extract on Lighthouse, then check your profile and Hideout walls for the achievement and style.
How to Get the All-Wheel Drive Achievement on Escape From Tarkov
But you do not start with the BTR at all. First you need access to its quest line, which means getting to at least level 20 and picking up Mechanic’s quest “A Helping Hand” that sends you to Woods. That task has you ride the BTR taxi into the locked train depot area, grab Prapor’s package from one of the office spawns, extract, then hand it over through “Shipping Delay – Part 1”. Once you finish that, you have effectively been introduced to the BTR Driver as an in raid trader and you can start seeing his tasks and the follow up chain that eventually leads to the conflict with Skier.

From there your goal is simple on paper. You play through the connected BTR and Skier quests until you hit “Discombobulate”, then the line splits into a mutually exclusive choice between “Choose Your Friends Wisely” from Skier or “The Price of Independence” from the BTR Driver. Both quests use the BTR transit system to move you across Customs, Reserve, Woods and Lighthouse in a single extended route, and both end on Lighthouse with an extraction requirement while other objectives are active. Skier’s version focuses on using transits in order and killing 5 PMC operatives while you do that, then surviving and extracting from Lighthouse. The BTR Driver’s version adds an incriminating letter you have to loot on Customs, stash in Black Bishop on Reserve, kill targets on Woods, kill 10 Scavs across the run and fire yellow flares at both the Lighthouse train station warehouse and the pier before you leave.

And there is a real choice here, not just flavor text. If you side with Skier and complete “Choose Your Friends Wisely”, you get a big payout in Euros, a THICC Weapon Case, some Skier reputation and you still unlock All Wheel Drive. If you side with the BTR Driver and finish “The Price of Independence”, you gain a large chunk of BTR Driver reputation, 300k roubles, plus new barters at Mechanic for blue RSP 30 signal cartridges and graphics cards, and you also unlock All Wheel Drive. Either path satisfies the achievement description that says you only need to “resolve the issue with the BTR Driver one way or another”, so you can pick based on whether you value Skier rewards or BTR support and Mechanic utility more.

The difficult part is execution inside a raid, not understanding the text. Whichever quest you pick, treat it like a long scripted run and gear up for a full loop through Customs, Reserve, Woods and Lighthouse with time for fights at each stop. On “The Price of Independence” especially, dying or extracting early wipes almost all of your progress except grabbing the incriminating letter, so you want ammo, meds, food, at least two yellow flares or an RSP 30 plus pistol, and a build you are fully comfortable with on all four maps. While you move between transits, try to farm your required Scav or PMC kills in safer angles rather than rushing hot positions, because losing the run at the final pier or train station flare feels rough when you have already done the earlier legs.

And once the last extract on Lighthouse is done with all objectives ticked, the game quietly does the rest for you. The All Wheel Drive achievement triggers in raid and then lives on your profile, and your Hideout customization menu gains the Modest Wallpaper wall option that is explicitly tied to that achievement in the walls section. Since achievements and their attached rewards persist through wipes, you only have to suffer through this BTR marathon one time before your hideout walls stay upgraded for every future reset you care to play through.
