A few mods do not work on saves, I would assume since this changes the build menu. It works fine for me

Choggi has something like this in the original game in which you can chose the rivals and you work to unlock their stuff with good reputation, including special vehicles and stuff.And you can add them all on Mars if you want all factions.

The original game had a mod that logically linked the unlocking of sponsor buildings to existing research. For example, the Improved Stirling Generator was unlocked by researching the Stirling Generator upgrade.

I wish there was a version of this mod that instead of giving them to you upfront, they added them in different ways that you could unlock

For basic things we should all have, regular technologies- for the more powerful stuff maybe breakthroughs (either randomised or as rewards for specific events). You know what I mean? I had them all up front before and it seemed far too OP
