being called "Left 4 Dead", the aim of Left 4 Dead is not to be left for dead. Rather, you are encouraged to keep everyone on your team alive. If Valve cared about the laws relating to false advertising or misleading claims, they surely would've titled the game something along the lines of "Survive" or "Don't Die".

But what if it wasn't false advertising? What if the way we've been playing the game this entire time is actually wrong? This guide explains how to play Left 4 Dead in a way that fulfils the prophecy revealed in its name.

There are a couple of ways to be left for dead in Left 4 Dead. These involve having your teammates reach the rescue vehicle whilst you remain behind in the finale area to die (hence, you've been left for (4) dead).


1) Once the rescue vehicle arrives, wait for all your teammates to get to it first.

2) Step inside the rescue zone and immediately step back out. You will have a very brief window between entering the rescue zone and the screen fading to black, during which you can still move normally.

You will know if it worked because you will see your survivor standing near where the rescue vehicle was as it drives/sails/flies away. You will also be listed as dead in the credits.
