Introduction
Warband is a very complex game and it took me a good while to make this intuitive and comfortable controller configuration

only the DualShock 4 / DualSense controller and the Steam Deck have enough input options to make this even remotely feasible

you can play this with automatic directional blocking or with manual blocking control, but only using the option "by mouse movement"
Setting up the config
make sure you are using the default keybinds on your game

to setup this controller config, is very simple, if you have a DualShock 4 / DualSense controller, click this link

steam://controllerconfig/48700/3597706239

or if you have a Steam Deck and want the Steam Deck config, just click on this link from your Steam Deck

steam://controllerconfig/48700/3597695364

both layouts are very similar, but i fine tuned the DualShock 4 / DualSense config a little, since the touchpad seems to be a bit less sensitive than the Steam Deck's, and the gyro is slightly less precise i feel
Controls
this layout includes every possible action ingame, including some hidden ones, all is labeled, holding R1 while swiping the right touchpad allows you to start directional attacks easily, doing so while also holding down L2 allows you to block in different direction, if you set the block control option to "By mouse movement" includes toggleable gyro mode

Extra Features

some extra features i added to the config

  • : Toggle gyro mode, while gyro mode is enabled you can touch / to supress the gyro input, that way you can reorient your controller / steam deck easily

  • / : quickly swap items from one inventory to another, like when you are looting or at a market, makes things much easier, you can also press this over the name of a unit you wish to upgrade on the Party screen, this will upgrade every unit of that type that can be upgraded

Steam Deck Exclusive Controls

these are all redundant actions

  • : Kick

  • : Jump

  • : Toggle Weapon mode

  • : Sheath Weapon

  • (Long Press) : Drop Weapon
Closing Thoughts
i made this config mostly for Steam Deck users like me, but if you like to play laying on the couch you might enjoy this, assuming you have a PlayStation controller

i recommend using the gyro mode for ranged attacks, but toggling it off for melee attacks, also remember that while gyro is enabled, touching the right touchpad suppresses gyro inputs (tough it doesnt toggles it off, you press L3 for that), makes it easier to reorient your Steam Deck / controller

play around with this config on the tutorial to see if you like it
