With corvettes and destroyers not being able to fit the large valkyrie dropship the ESDF high command and materials administration decided a small shuttle for ship to ship & ship to station transfer and scouting missions was needed and as such the Kodiak transport shuttle was given the go ahead, the Kodiak can carry 2 passengers and has a integrated early warning systems with a good amount of fuel for scouting and to act as a early warning aircraft when not transporting people.
The Kodiaks early warning system is based on the early warning pod used by the Cosmo Viggen strike fighter in that it will transmit a warning message to friendly ships once it detects a hostile target within its detection range.
