The Yagata-class Cruisers have remained one of the Schoshamo Empire's most distinctive and iconic designs, rivalling those of the Hiertusa-class Frigate and Bahuyu-class Battleship. When the Yagata-B was created, it ushered in the Third Generation of warship designs further enhancing the Schoshamo Imperial Navy with more powerful and capable warships. Though the Yagata was the pioneer of this design revolution, it began to lag behind it's peers and lacked some of the features the newest ships in the Imperial Navy had. So the Imperial Navy alongside Vaurgo Standard and the Hajomi Corporation sought to completely refurbish the Yagata-B to be on par with it's peers on the battlefield.

The Yagata was changed to have a more powerful main armament, gaining the newly designed Hajomi DHF-680 Dual Positron Cannons. Though this gun was still significantly weaker than the ship's signature RS-680 Quad Positron Cannons, it allows for the Yagata to deal a much deadlier broadside in tandem with it's main armament. The Yagata also gained new point defense guns to protect it's fleet better, and even came equipped with brand new missile launchers for long scale bombardment. The Coaxial Gun would be enhanced with new additional heat sinks, and a much longer barrel going the entire length of the ship to connect to the ship's reactor allowing it to directly utilize the main reactor's power for bombardment. Another additional features such as new thruster nozzles for better maneuverability, the inclusion of several onboard shield generators, and an enhanced fighter bay capable of carrying a squad of light fighters only increases the power of the vessel.

With the addition of these features, the Yagata became somewhat synonymous with some Battlecruisers being referred to some as a "Large Cruiser" due to it's relatively larger size and more powerful armament compared to it's other peers within the Imperial Navy such as the Kitakazo and Tatsu-class Cruisers. This has lead it to taking a more offensive role within fleets, with it being assigned to either hunt down and destroy enemy cruisers with it's unusually heavy firepower or fight alongside frontline warships such as Bahuyu and Korura-class ships. A downside to all of these upgrades is the fact that the Yagata-B1 is now 2 times as expensive to construct to it's previous iteration, though the Imperial Navy claims that it's many expensive upgrades are necessary for the ship's success in battle.
