Introduction

Achievement Breakdown: (50)
Questline Related: (8)
Multiplayer: (4)
Exploration: (16)
Miscellaneous: (22)

Skull and Bones is an excellent arcade-style pirate MMO and allows you to obtain the majority of achievements by naturally playing the game. Others will require extensive exploration of the map and some grinding. It will take you approximately 25 hours to get 100% if you focus exclusively on getting the achievements.

There are no DLC, difficulty-related, or missable achievements. As the game is an MMO, it requires a permanent internet connection to play, regardless of whether you are interested in multiplayer activities.
Major Questlines

Achievements: 8
Questline Related: 8

All the following achievements are very closely related to major questlines, which appear as a yellow "sun" icon in your journal. As you play through the game, ensure you focus on completing these quests as they unlock more game content and also provide decent rewards.

I did not write the names of specific quests that needed to be completed to obtain these achievements, as the questline was changed quite a bit since the game's first release and may change again in the future. As a result, I've listed out general landmarks to keep an eye out for as you go through the game.

Achievement #1:
Mainland Pirate
Reach Sainte-Anne.

Achievement #2:
Just Business
Meet John Scurlock.

These two achievements are obtained within the first 10 minutes of playing the game. After completing the introduction and going through the scripted death to the British warships, you wash ashore on Sainte-Anne, granting the first achievement. This is one of the two major pirate dens in the game and a place where you can encounter many NPCs providing you with services you'll be using throughout the rest of your gameplay- like the warehouse, blacksmith, and refiner, to name a few.

Following your arrival, you'll be prompted to speak with John Scurlock- the kingpin of Sainte-Anne and the provider for the vast majority of your major quests during the first half of the game. After speaking with him, you'll get the second achievement.

Achievement #3:
Go Overboard
Finish an enemy with a crew boarding.

After you meet with Scurlock, you'll be prompted to acquire a ship from the Shipwright. The game's intro questline has changed since its first release, and depending on when you read this, it may have changed again. But this Shipwright will most likely ask you to complete a quest for him to permanently keep the free ship he gave you. During this quest, you will be able to fight some enemies, and during these moments, you can board an enemy.

I should note that there is an actual quest that makes you defeat a ship with crew-boarding, but this is one of the earliest opportunities you can perform the crew-boarding on your own. You can board a ship after its health has dropped below an arbitrary amount (different for each enemy type). Keep an eye out for a blue health bar and the game prompting you to board the enemy. Ensure you drive up close to the enemy and keep your broadside against theirs before launching your grapples. You can throw out your grapples with a very quick cooldown, so you can try again if you fail. Upon successful boarding, you get bonus loot from the enemy, and they will instantly die. Doing this successfully will grant you this achievement.

Achievement #4:
Turtle Up!
Equip your ship with armor.

After completing the Shipwrights quest, you should get your first piece of ship armor as a reward. Head back to your ship (hold "Z" to fast travel back to your ship) and equip it by modifying your loadout. Once equipped, you will get this achievement.

Achievement #5:
Banished Admiral
Meet Admiral Rahma.

The Admiral is the kingpin of Telok Penjarah- the second major pirate hideout located in the East Indies. After completing Scurlock's quests during the first half of the game, you'll be prompted to cross the open seas and reach the eastern part of the map. The open seas can be very dangerous due to rogue waves and constant storms. Ensure your ship is upgraded and able to navigate the rough seas. Keep in mind that going too fast in the open seas will cause you to "jump" a wave, causing lots of damage to your ship upon landing.

After reaching Telok and speaking with the kingpin, this achievement will appear.

Achievement #6:
Duty Free
Discover a smuggler's hideout.

Achievement #7:
But You Have Heard of Me
Reach 'Cutthroat' tier.

NOTE:
Although it's not tied to any questline, I've added the "But You Have Heard of Me" achievement into this section since the 'Cutthroat' tier is the last tier before reaching 'Kingpin' (which is required to obtain 'Duty Free').

The fastest way to gain infamy is to do world events and major questlines. But if you're not comfortable taking these on, feel free to keep doing side-quests and sinking random enemy boats. You'll rank up enough infamy in no time.
Continue with the major questline and complete any sidequests that catch your interest (keep in mind that some sidequests are repeatable). Eventually, you'll have earned enough infamy to become a "Kingpin". At this point, you'll get a quest prompting you to speak with Yanita near the back of Sainte-Anne. After earning her trust, she'll take you into the smuggler's hideout, unlocking the beginning parts of the Helm Empire (and also granting the achievement). As you do more of her quests, more parts of the empire will unlock and will eventually become a very good way of earning rare materials and pieces of eight (a secondary currency used in the smuggler's shop).

Here is an excellent video explaining how the Helm Empire works. This is not required for achievement; simply entering the hideout is enough. But I'll leave the video here if you want to exploit the smuggler's riches:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kc5cgnEZZ0E

Achievement #8:
First Come, First Served
Successfully capture your first Manufactory.

Soon after starting the smuggler questline, you'll be tasked with capturing your first manufactory. It's essentially a pluder mission with slightly more enemies. By this point, you should be very familiar with plundering and have a more than satisfactory vessel to take on the settlement. Upon completing the "plunder", the achievement will appear.
Multiplayer

Achievements: 12
Multiplayer: 4

As this is an MMO, Skull and Bones is most enjoyable when playing with other players. I highly encourage you to join the community Discord and play with others. You may even get invited to some "guilds". Keep in mind that guilds are not a supported gameplay feature and are entirely community-driven.

I also encourage you to join the "trader" Discord. The community-driven market is a big part of the game, and participating in it is required for one of the achievements.

NOTE:
Links are below. If the links have expired, try to search for their names directly via Discord's server search.
Community Discord: "Skull and Bones" - https://discord.gg/JUFnfK4c
Trading Discord: "Free Chamber of Commerce of Sainte-Anne" - https://discord.gg/XR747h8GN8

Achievement #:9
Pirates, Assemble
Group up with two other players during gameplay.

The maximum number of players you can group up with at any given time is 3. If you don't have two other friends who play this game, you can try your luck by randomly requesting players to group up. You can also navigate to your social settings (press "TAB" then "Y"- or the button appearing in the bottom left beside your player icon) and set your group settings to "Open", allowing anyone to join your party.

If all else fails, you can always join the Skull and Bones community Discord and ask for players to join your party.

Achievement #:10
javascript:InsertSelected()It's More Fun Together
Complete 5 shared contracts.

When in a party with at least one other player, complete 5 shared contracts. This counts for contracts that you started before joining a group- so long as you turn it in while you're in that group.

The easiest way of doing this is to join a group, complete some elite-warship-related world events, and then go around turning in the bounty (the quest is auto-accepted once you enter the vicinity of the elite warship). Each party member can turn in a different bounty to speed up the process, and the quest completion and rewards are given to every player.

Achievement #:11
Sharing Is Caring
Trade items with at least 3 players.

The community-driven market is a huge part of the game and is very fun to participate in. It can be very overwhelming when you're first starting, but joining the trading discord listed at the top of this section can help you get started.

To get this achievement, you must trade with 3 unique players. The quantity of items does not matter so long as the trade is successfully concluded via the in-game menu.
Walk up to a player, interact with them via "F", and then request a trade. Upon providing the items you want to transfer, lock in your decision, and then do a final confirmation. After doing this with 3 unique players, the achievement will appear.

Achievement #:12
Hello, World!
Greet players with an 'Ahoy!' from the quick-chat option in a server chat room.

You don't need other players for this achievement, but it still requires you to engage with multiplayer features- in this case, the global chat. Open the chat with "N", then open the "Quick Chat" sub-menu and select "Ahoy". Once you see your text appear in the chat, this achievement should appear.

Spyglass or interact with Suny.

All these achievements can be easily obtained by using your spyglass to scan the respective settlements or going up to each of them and pressing "E" to interact.

The locations of each capital settlement are found in the image below.

Region Exploration
To view a "region" in-game, you need to open your map and zoom out until you hit the outermost zoom level. To view a "zone" in-game, use the second outermost zoom level.

These achievements require you to physically "set foot" in each zone in the game. The game doesn't keep a visible tracker of which zones you have entered or not, so you'll need to keep them in mind as you traverse the world. Although the game has a fog-of-war when you first start the game, the fog can and will disappear from zones before you have entered them- tricking you into thinking you've entered them.

NOTE:
To guarantee you've entered a new zone, ensure you see the large banner appearing in the top-center of your screen saying something along the lines of "Zone Entered | <some name>".

I've created a map below of all zones in the game and separated them into their overall regions. I've highlighted the easily missable zones in red text.

Misc Exploration Achievements
Achievement #23:
The People's Person
Talk to 20 interactable NPCs.

Achievement #24:
The Mime
Show your gratitude to any NPC after talking to them.

Achievement #25:
The Explorer
Activate a pirate's bonfire on 3 outposts.

As you go to different regions, you're bound to discover many different outposts. Make sure you dock at each one and interact with the inhabitants. Interacting with 20 NPCs will get you the first achievement.

After exiting an interaction with an NPC, ensure you perform the "Thank you" emote. This emote is not one of the default emotes found on your quick access menu. You'll need to customize the emote wheel and add the emote manually. You only need to do this once for "The Mime" achievement to appear.

While you're at the outpost, open your map and make your way to its bonfire. As you walk up, you'll be prompted to activate the bonfire- making your character throw some ashes onto the fire and turning it green. Perform this action on 3 unique outposts to get "The Explorer" achievement.

Achievement #26:
Fiber Collector
Harvest fiber in 3 regions.

Achievement #27:
Wood Collector
Harvest wood in 3 regions.

Achievement #28:
Metal Collector
Harvest metal in 3 regions.

NOTE:
When collecting "Jute", ensure you collect as much as you physically can. You're going to need to harvest 10k for the "Skull and Jute" achievement.
As you're exploring the regions, ensure you stop to pick up resources. They can be fairly hard to spot unless you're actively looking for them, so drive slowly along the coast and keep an eye out for sparkling flora and rocks. Note that this achievement is tied to regions and not zones, so once you've collected a fiber along the Coast of Africa, you won't need to collect any more in that entire region for the achievement (but you'll need a lot for refining, so you may as well gather all you see).

When stopping at either of the two major pirate dens, ensure you speak with the Carpenter to upgrade your resource collection tools. Prioritize your spear and sickle above all else.

If you're having issues finding resource locations, take a look at this mapping tool:
https://mapgenie.io/skull-and-bones/maps/indian-ocean

Although the resource locations don't match up perfectly with the true spawn locations in-game, you can get a general idea of where they appear.
Miscellaneous Pt 1

Achievements: 37
Miscellaneous: 9

Achievement #29:
Ship Captain
Build your first ship.

One of the earliest ship blueprints you can purchase is the "Hulk"- available for sale at the Sacred Tree Outpost (location found on the map below). Purchase it from the merchant found on the docks and head back to Sainte-Anne to build it by speaking to the Shipwright.

This ship will cost you the following resources- all of which can be obtained by looting ships surrounding Sainte-Anne. Alternatively, you can try purchasing the materials at the two merchants in Sainte-Anne.
  • Silver x1080
  • Fine Jute x12
  • Bronze Ingot x6
  • Iroko Plank x6

You can also choose to refine these materials yourself by collecting the following materials and speaking with the Refiner. This is the total cost required to build the Hulk:
  • Just x60
  • Copper x18
  • Iroko x30

Achievement #30:
Just for fun
Defeat an enemy and leave the zone without looting.

Achievement #31:
Why Fight When We Can Negotiate
Hide from attackers in a safe zone.

These achievements are quite self-explanatory and very easy to do near Sainte-Anne, since it's considered its own zone.

For the first one, take a look at the region/zone map at the bottom of the "Exploration" category of this guide. Your goal is to sink an enemy in one zone and then move to another zone without looting them (you can go back and pick up the loot after). The easiest way to do this is to kill something in Giant's Leap (northwest of Sainte-Anne) and then move to any other zone, such as Saint-Anne itself. You'll notice a big banner appears in the top-center of your screen, indicating when you've entered a new zone.

For the second achievement, you're doing something very similar, except you're not sinking the enemy, nor do you really need to worry about zones. Right after leaving Sainte-Anne, shoot an enemy to get them aggro'd onto you, and then flee towards Sainte-Anne's safe zone. There are only two safe zones in the game, both of which are attached to the pirate hub/den's. This can be done at either of those two locations.

Achievement #32:
When We Raid, It Pours
Loot a total of 50000 silver of item value from enemy ships.

Ubisoft has significantly boosted silver drops since launch. As a result, this achievement should be quite easy to get after a few hours of casual gameplay. Different ships from different factions will drop varying amounts of silver. I found the most luck with the enemies in Jiwe (northwest of the Red Isle region). I wouldn't recommend grinding for this achievement as it's something that will come naturally.

Achievement #33:
Hitman
Sink a Privateer.

Privateers are very hostile ships targeting pirates. They are easily identifiable with their dark-red sails and will typically either appear as Frigates or Sloops. These are pretty hard fights early game, so make sure you're stocked up on enough cannonballs and have a decent build before taking them on. You can also use your spyglass to scan ships and keep an eye out for the "Privateer" title on the info card that appears. There are plenty that appear along the northern Coast of Africa bordering the "Open Ocean".

Achievement #34:
Derby
In total, deal 30000 of Collision (ram) damage to other ships.

This is another self-explanatory achievement that can be earned over time without having to worry about it. Whenever you have the opportunity, gain some speed and ram into enemy ships. Not only will it deal a good amount of damage, but the points will accumulate for this achievement.

If you want to speed it up, you can build the Brigantine ship that is specially designed for ramming others. The blueprint can be purchased at the "Ruined Lighthouse" outpost (found in the East Indies), but requires the "Cutthroat 1" infamy rank. Since this is a late-game area, it isn't worth the trip for just this achievement, and you should have earned it well before arriving in the East Indies.

Achievement #35:
Water Party
Successfully plunder a location in stormy weather.

Keep an eye out for storms while you're in the Coast of Africa, the Red Isle, or the East Indies. Storms are a random occurrence and are easily identified by the darkened skies, rougher water, and potentially lightning strikes (though this is not required). When you spot one, try to find a nearby settlement that you can start to plunder. To start a plunder, you can either start attacking ships within the vicinity of the settlement (indicated by the white border in the water) or destroying their towers/fortifications. Doing either of these will automatically start the plunder if you're close enough. Alternatively, you can manually start the plunder by going up to the settlement and holding "E" on it.
To get this achievement, you must beat the final wave while a storm is ongoing in your immediate area. This achievement can be tricky and is entirely luck-dependent.

Achievement #36:
The Silencer
Destroy flare weak point to interrupt a ship from firing flares.

This is another tricky achievement to get and is also luck-dependent, as not all ships have a flare weak point. When you "aim-down-sights" in while looking at an enemy, keep an eye out for a weak point on their deck near the front or middle of the enemy's ship. If you've engaged the enemy, this weak point will appear to give off a flare effect. Carefully aim your cannons when shooting this weak point to destroy it. Having a physically taller ship is going to be very handy (something like a Hulk or Snow), but it is not required to get this achievement.

Here is an excellent video showing how to get it:
https://youtu.be/mfPAVn6ywQU?si=ZXYfHgMmQxmQrT2o

Achievement #37:
I Can See My House From Here!
Crest a rogue wave.

Rogue waves spawn exclusively in the Open Ocean- take a look at the region/zone map at the bottom of the "Exploration" section of this guide for region information. They are random but frequent spawns indicated by a loud bell ringing on your ship and your crew yelling out "Rogue Wave!". The game will prompt you to "Look at Rogue Wave" when one is happening in your area. When this happens, drop your sails and sail directly into the wave to crest it. You don't need to jump your ship or go particularly fast to get this achievement, just drive over it.
Miscellaneous Pt 2

Achievements: 47
Miscellaneous: 19

Achievement #38:
Battle Royale
Defeat 5 ships without leaving Open Seas region.

Take a look at the region/zone map at the bottom of the "Exploration" section of this guide for info on what counts as the Open Ocean. While in this region, simply kill 5 ships without leaving that region. Keep in mind you can cross zones within the Open Ocean, but don't enter the Coast of Africa, the Red Isle, or the East Indies.

Achievement #39:
Not Today
Sink an enemy ship while having 5% hp or lower.

This was a surprisingly difficult achievement to get naturally. I find that if an enemy is capable of bringing my ship below 20% hp, they're going to outright destroy my ship. I got lucky when fighting a Plague Prince in world tier 2, where the prince's poison inevitably killed me, but I killed the prince right before the poison got me. But I feel you can cheese this achievement by bringing in a tanky build to the starting area (around Sainte-Anne) and allowing a low-level ship to constantly shoot you. Then, once your health starts flashing red, you can kill it.

If you were thinking about it, I don't recommend trying this out with a Dhow. A single enemy broadside can easily kill you once your health drops below 30% since you have no brace ability. But if you still want to try it out, take a look at the Porcupine achievement below and knock out two birds with one stone.

Achievement #40:
There You Are!
Scan an object from a long distance (1400m+).

Upgrade your spyglass to the maximum level from the Carpenter at either of the two pirate dens. Then, when on the seas, open your spyglass, zoom in as far as you can, and try to scan something on the horizon. You will most likely get this achievement naturally by playing the game.

Achievement #41:
Magellan
Sail 1000000 meters.

I wouldn't try to single out this achievement and grind it out. It's something that comes naturally as you play the game. You can speed up the progress on this by avoiding fast travel and using any quick medium ship.

Achievement #42:
Rangs to Riches
Wear an outfit worth more than 5,000 silver.

In Sainte-Anne, head to the Vanity Atelier (identifiable by a "mirror" icon on the map). Navigate to the "sets" tab and purchase any set worth more than 5k silver. You can also equip clothing from here, and upon doing so, you'll get the achievement.

Achievement #43:
Why Is the Brandy Always Gone?
Sell all your brandy.

No pirate game is complete without a Pirates of the Caribbean reference. You can find Brandy randomly on ships and also utilize trade routes to narrow down your targets. When sailing on your ship, use your spyglass to scan what contents an enemy is carrying. If you see Brandy, sink them and take their loot. Then head back to any outpost and sell off the Brandy. Keep in mind that if you have any Brandy in your warehouse, that will need to be sold as well. When at an outpost and speaking with a merchant, you can press TAB to cycle your inventory and show the contents of your warehouse so that you don't need to keep going back and forth from your cache to transfer items to your inventory.

Achievement #44:
Cook Pirates
Cook 15 dishes.

This is a slightly misleading achievement. When trying to cook at the pot in Sainte-Anne, the grilled recipes using a single ingredient don't count towards the achievement. Instead, navigate to the second tab in the menu and cook the "Godrogodro" recipe. You should have received this at the very start of the game upon reaching Sainte-Anne. The recipe only requires Coconut and Flour. The coconut can be gathered on trees directly north of Sainte-Anne (part of the same island). The flour can be purchased from the Hawkers back in town (or looted from enemy ships- but this is unreliable). Upon crafting 15 of this recipe, the achievement will appear.

Achievement #45:
After a Long Day of Sailing
Dance to a song performed by musicians in Sainte-Anne.

Navigate to the location shown in the image below and use the "Dance" emote in front of the drummers. This emote may not be automatically equipped to your emote wheel, and you'll need to do so manually.

Achievement #46:
Poacher
Hunt down at least 1 of each hostile wildlife (spear only).

This achievement is slightly misleading, as you don't need to kill every single animal type in the game. The following 7 will be sufficient (note that the alpha crocodile wasn't necessary). I've displayed where you can find these creatures in-game. There are plenty of other locations where they spawn- all visible from your in-game map on zoom-level-4. You, of course, will need to equip the Dhow to hunt these animals. In addition, having a higher-level spear (upgraded at the Carpenter at any pirate hideout/den) will make this go faster. I recommend sticking to world-tier-1 when hunting, especially when dealing with the Alpha Hippo. If you leave the Alpha's little arena, it will instantly despawn, forcing you to restart the fight.
  • Hammerhead Shark
  • Great White Shark
  • Hippo
  • Alpha Hippo (don't leave its "arena" during the fight, or it will despawn. Exit and re-enter the "arena" for it to reappear)
  • Nile Crocodile
  • Madcap Crocodile
  • Saltwater Crocodile

Achievement #47:
Lunar Effect
Stare at the full moon for ten seconds while on land.

When it turns night and you can see the moon, head to any outpost and look at the moon for 10 seconds. This achievement was a bit finicky for me, and I had to travel to a couple of different outposts during different nights for it to finally appear. I got the achievement while on Sainte-Anne and physically faced my character towards the moon. Then I kept the moon in full view and as close to the center of my camera as I could. After 10 seconds, the achievement popped.
Miscellaneous Pt 3

Achievements: 50
Miscellaneous: 22

Achievement #48:
In-spear-rational
Deal 3000 damage to a tower using a spear.

While using the Dhow and ideally a maxed level spear, go to any nearby settlement with a defensive tower you can attack. The tower will likely kill you with a single barrage, so keep moving as you attack it to dodge incoming fire (there is no "brace" ability on the Dhow). Throw as many spears as you can towards the tower. A maxed-out spear deals around 100 damage, so you'll need to land around 30 hits on the tower to get the achievement. Don't worry if you die; the achievement counts the total accumulated damage.

Achievement #49:
Porcupine
Hit enemy ships with a spear 100 times.

Similar to the achievement above, you'll need to equip a Dhow and start attacking enemy ships with spears. I find that the low-level enemies around Sainte-Anne will die with 5 spear hits (assuming you're using a maxed-out spear). Do your best to kill the enemy as quickly as possible to prevent them from retaliating against your assault. After sinking 20ish ships, this achievement should appear, and you can forget about ever having to ride that god forsaken Dhow ever again.

Achievement #50:
Skull and Jute
Harvest 10000 pieces of jute in total.

NOTE:
Don't bother with this achievement until you've fully upgraded your sickle at the Carpenter at any pirate den and have access to world tier 2. Higher-tier tools get you more resources.

Although doable without the above-mentioned requirements, it'll be significantly more grindy.
By far the most tedious achievement to get in the game. Luckily, I've created an optimized route for you to follow that should ideally get you the achievement in under 2 hours. Each trip from Sainte-Anne will get you 500-750 jute.

Pick your favorite ship that has good maneuverability and speed. Cargo capacity isn't too important, as you're only ever going to carry 800 jute at once.

This is the build I used with the Schooner ship (the ship isn't too important, but the furniture is).
The only highly recommended furniture is the Tool Smithy 1. Everything else is optional and can be changed to suit your needs. I recommend furniture that enhances your acceleration/deceleration/top speed, as you'll be constantly stopping to pick up resources.
  • Tool Smithy 1 *IMPORTANT*
  • Rope Locker
  • Secret Cache 1
  • Lemari Makanan 1
  • Lestari Trophy
  • Storage Compartment

Using the map below, keep in mind to harvest the entire "orange box" I've highlighted. This area will be re-grown by the time you make your return trip to Sainte-Anne, and is the best spot for collecting jute along the route. You'll be collecting the "orange box" spawns twice during your trip.

Once everything is collected, return to Sainte-Anne and switch to world tier 2. This will change the server you're in and reset the spawns of the jute. Also, players in world tier 2 are unlikely to manually harvest resources on their own, so you're likely to come across many more jute spawns.
If you don't have access to world tier 2, you can return to the main menu and rejoin the game.

Conclusion
Congratulations on getting 100% achievements!

I welcome any feedback on how to improve this guide. Please leave any questions or concerns in the comments below. Thanks!

That is definitely a struggle. I got it out of pure dumb luck haha. I wonder if using the Hulk and intentionally getting hit by the starting ships around Sainte-Anne would make it easier to grind out

the 5% or less hp one was the most tedious for me. I was sure it was 1% when I got the achievement as i was roaming for almost an hour with a glowing red and thumping screen lol. I used a frigate to try this out. used the storm to wear my hp down.
