I'll make it quick and simple

first of all, it should be obvious, but use the ScummVM version since that is the "classic" version
if your save files are STILL not there, browse the game's files (check somewhere else if you don't know how to do it)
for some reason the "saves" folder is not where it needs to be
this is NOT where it should be so copy and paste all your saves to Classic\Saves
voilá, now every time you open up the ScummVM version you'll have your old saves
simple as, don't ask me for sh*t

Yes, if you want achievements you have to play through the whole game again on the new version. As the classic one still doesn't unlock them, and their saves are not compatible.

I guess it doesn't solve the issue of missing achievements though. Still need to replay on the new version if you care about those.
